OMG! My son has been waiting for this FS to come out. He kept asking me and asking me, so he is upstairs creating. He should be in bed, it's 11pm.
The Featured Stamper for today is K. Dunbrook. Here is here wonderful card I decided to case. SC203 Seeing Black and White by k dunbrook at Splitcoaststampers. Which also fits for the Limited Supplies Challenge "Say what you feel" for LSC206 where we were to use no stamps and only sentiments.
Here is my story:
I was looking through my quilt books for a heart template that would fit on this size card. I found one in a paper piecing one for pillows. I traced the pattern onto vellum and cut out because I didn't have any tracing paper. I then traced the heart pattern and went visual to draw my own lines for the flag portion of the heart from what the actual pattern was in the book. I traced each piece of the pattern onto dp. Cut out and sponged. I attached the pieces of the flag onto another heart made out of chipboard. Sponged. I had to think of something really fast when it came to the background dp. I ran out of the cream dp that had a crackled look on it for the flag, so I came across the Faux Leather with Masking Tape technique from Beate found in the Resources and thought it would work here. I tore small pieces of masking tape, stuck them onto cream c/s. I did what the tutorial said to do. Sponged, clear emboss powder, and heat tool. No need for versamark. I did the same for the stars too. I used a mini square punch for the corners and cut diagonal for one of the squares 4 times. Sponged. I used the star punches from the masking tape technique 4 times, plus 1 for the flag, and attached them using 3D dots. The heart is on there with foam tape. I don't really have any Americana sentiments so I decided to use a thick sticker for the sentiment. It is mounted onto navy c/s and attached with foam tape as well. This was fun to create. I really enjoyed the technique, and both challenges. Thanks for looking and have a wonderful night. I hope you like this.
