I hosted a birthday party for an eleven year old last week. Here is the stuff we did for her party. (some doubled) I found journals with monograms on them at Michaels for 50 cents. We decorated them and covered up the monograms. The girls declared them *Very Non-normal Notebooks*. (purple in this photo) They each got a purple gel pen for the journal. I also found 50 cent datebooks with clear covers. We made new covers for them--they are the Baja Blue with cardinals. The gift bag topper is Kiwi 8.5 square and flower cut with a SLICE. There is a very quickie post-it matchbook cover with a SLICE butterfly. The final item in their bags was a set of Mary Engelbreit cards from Michaels. I showed them how to cut out some details from one card and pop it up on the second card to make a card that looked hand done. We ran out of time for that one, so they took them home to do. In all I spent about $4 per girl and they had 4 nice items to take home with them. Fun!
Journal Details:The journals were already a purple paisley--we just added the ribbon, letter beads (to spell names--on clearance at Hobby Lobby), and stamped punches (covered the monograms). We did put a liner inside the front cover of the journal to cover the taped ribbon ends. We left one ribbon end long to be a bookmark. Then I let them stamp scripture verses on every 5th page to have something inside it too.

Cool items and very inexpensive. I just posted in "Family Matters" asking about a craft party. How did you cover the journals? I need some simple crafts that my daughter and her friends can do. (Same age 10/11) Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
