Hello everyone and happy Wednesday/Thursday! I haven't been able to stamp much lately, so when I finally got to play tonight I combined the color challenge and the sketch challenge from this week.
This is another odd card for me, but happens to have a backstory.
When I saw the color challenge yesterday (Sahara Sand, Black and Vanilla), for some uncanny reason I remembered something back from 2nd or 3rd grade. Our teacher had us put small globs of India Ink onto paper and blow on them with a straw to create designs on the paper. I remember how very pleased we all were with our juvenile ink creations! (Phew, was that a long time ago!)
So anyway, yesterday I was remembering that and wondering how I could incorporate this technique into a card (during the whopping two minutes of spare time I had yesterday, that is!). The day got away from me and I never got to make a card.
Lo and behold, the sketch challenge today presented a lovely backdrop for my wierd latent memory of something from grade school. I got home from work late, but decided to see what would come of it.
So here is my card. Am fairly confident it won't be popular, but it was fun to revisit this wonderful moment my childhood!
Used black India Ink on vanilla for the background; then dutifully used Sahara Sand and Black paper for the color challenge. I was delighted that the black India Ink complemented the Sahara Sand so well after it was thinned out over the Vanilla stock. (Better to be lucky than good, as one of my dear friends always says! LOL)
The panels kind of reminded me of the vines that grow somewhere around mid-canopy in a rain forest. So I added a butterfly and am calling it a card.
Thanks for the challenges and thanks for looking!

I think it's gorgeous. The moment I saw it, the first thing I thought of was the straw and ink technique that I too learnt to do in infants school. I love the interesting effect it makes. And it would feel like playing making those lovely backgrounds - or at the very least, warmly nostalgic.
