I created a total of 9 scrap book pages for SaturdayÂ’s (8/30/0 challenge, IC143, which was to use a room of the Hotel Fox in Copenhagen as the inspiration for a card. What an amazing hotel! The rooms are all unique and totally awesome.
I took my inspiration from the rooms designed by UK artists Nicola Carter and Luise Vormittag (also known as Container) who designed four rooms based on the four suites of a deck of cards. They had additional pictures of the rooms on their own website which was helpful for me as I was able to get a better sense of color and style for my own creations.
Their rooms depict a fairytale wedding in an old fashioned secret garden. Since I am still in the midst of completing the challenge for Friday, August 29th), for which I made a mat book for some pictures I took of this wedding, the timing of this couldn’t have been more perfect. So thank you, Stef, for a truly inspired challenge – I was looking to breathe some new ideas into the pages of this album and you helped immensely!
Room 502 is Hearts, the Honeymoon Suite. I used the design elements of this room for a set of pages of the wedding couple dancing at the wedding luncheon and liked it so much, I also used it for two additional pages of some intimate moments at the luncheon as well. All four pages can be found in my gallery as Rose Brocade #1 through Rose Brocade #4. Each page is different, but they all have the same basic elements and papers.
Like the others in the series, this room is also very ornate and “rich”. It is decorated with exquisite textiles. I had used some papers designed from vintage fabrics for the covers of the album. The style of this room gave me an opportunity use a paper that I particularly like from DCWV’s “Once Upon a Time” stack that reminds me of brocade as well as more of the same paper that I used for the cover. I stamped the background with a flourish design and created pleated and scalloped edges for the frames. I embellished the frames and pages with paper flowers, a bow, and a faux pink crystal heart.
