Sun Symmetry by tessaduck ~ Friday, March 18th - 6 pm EST - MAR16VSNB
Challenge Title: Sun symmetry
Hostess: tessaduck (Brenda)
Keyword: MAR16VSNB
Date: Friday, March 18, 2016 - 6 PM EST
Remember the landscapes we drew when we were kids? Green hills with blue rivers, and a sun up in the corner with rays going out in all directions? Believe it or not, that sun was our first step into radial or rotational symmetry.
Here's some more opportunities to play with radial or rotational symmetry:
Use a die or stamp with a sun shape-- a circle with repeated patterns all around.
Use Cyndie's templates with a MISTI to achieve rotational symmetry. Alternatively, use a stamp-a-ma-jig to place the same image in a circle or arch.
NOTE: The sun is not the only image that fits with radial or rotational symmetry. Think flowers, medallions, doilies, or sea stars... or galaxies far, far away!
So, for this challenge, use an image that has a sun shape-- radial or rotational symmetry.

Hi Brenda! Great challenge! I hope I did it right. I used my Sun Ray die-namic from MFT, and this was already cut out in yellow. You know how you play with things when you first get them. Well, this was my playing. So I used it!
okay so, you don't want us to use a sun image but to create a sun shape with a circle in the center and something radiating out from it? ( am I understanding this correctly?)o
I get to volunteer with some high flying second graders twice a week, and in anticipation of this challenge I asked them to do some exploring with their pattern blocks. Here's a couple examples:

Oh my, I really missed the sun part when I made my challenge. My gears are sorta sun shaped, they're round at least. Sneakers, not so much! I did get the symmetrical part though.
Thanks Brenda. I think we're a bunch of overthinkers!! I loved the link to the MISTI templates. It's what I used for my sneaker card. I've got another one started with sentiments instead of images. Stay tuned...

Eagerly anticipating...!

For some reason I just wasn't getting this at first. I think I did the correct thing. Since I don't have a MISTI (I know I'm the only one) I used my stamp-a-ma-jig for some of the stamping. The bg is from my stash..I think it's distress inks smooshed on a craft sheet and spritzed. The colors are prettier IRL ...hard to get a good picture right now.

Good morning, everyone. Recuperating from the weekend? I spent yesterday playing some more. My card for this challenge was dry so I have it uploaded this morning.
When I saw this challenge I thought of how gears rotate in a perfect symmetry. I have never done steam punk but this was a chance to try something new so here goes. I have not been able to participate in VSN is soooooo long. Hope this meets the challenge. Thanks!!
