That's the Baltimore Oriole's 7th inning stretch song. John Denver used to randomly show up and sing it in person!!
I am not sure what lock pants are either.
I had TONS of trolls and sticker books by lisa frank!!
I also had a collection of stirrup pants and painted t-shirts with TONS and TONS of those neon circle things to tie the shirt into... lol I even curled my bangs UPWARDS and ratted them with TOnS of hair spray!! lol
but strawberry shortcake, rainbow bright, and jem and the rockers dolls and VHS tapes were my favorite!!!! lol
Me too, except I was born in 81. I painted my shirts, jeans, and shoes. I had all those but Jem and the Holograms were the best back them and she-ra she was so kick butt. I even had the pink hologram sneakers. I also loved Out of this world with that girl evie, Alf, and small wonder.
I teased my high with lots of aqua net. I had high top sneakers (with the tongue hanging out) and pegged my pants. Big plastic earrings were worn with everything. Flourescent paint splattered jeans. Break Dancing.
My parents had the clapper they thought it was the neatest thing.
Anyone remember the jeans that had that zipper that went from the tailbone all the way through to the waist in the front. I never quite understood those.
I *LOVED* the 80's. I know all the trivia, but was totally into the bubble gum music of th 80's--Tiffany, Debbie Gibson, WHAM! (first concert I *ever* went to), Duran Duran, Whitney Houston, Madonna....I think you get the picture.
Favorite movie _of ALL TIME__was St. Elmo's Fire. Don't know why, only got 1/2 of it until later in life, KWIM? I was a *touch* naive.

My kids grew up in the 80's......Z Cavaricchi (sp?) jeans, converse high tops wore two different colored ones, Rainbow Bright, CareBears, yaddy yaddy yaddy..............
well, I remember all of these things because my kids were children of the 80's. I watched so many Jem cartoons and Saved By the Bell episodes that I can still hear them in my sleep! Rainbow Brite and My Little Pony were super favorites of my oldest daughter. She was born in 1981. Man, I feel old today!
(I was born in 76) I always talk about "Small Wonder" being one of my favorite shows and no one ever remembers it. I always watched it on Sunday mornings while getting ready for church:-)
My 30th birthday happens to be on August 18th. I think having my closest friends over for an 80s VSN sleepover would be the best way to celebrate!!! (I'm not sure my DH would agree, but it buys him a night to himself.) Even my friends that don't stamp -yet- could have fun (they can mix the margaritas!) What time does VSN actually start? I was on vacation for the last one.

Isn't that the show about the little girl that was really a robot? In my best monotone robot voice: My name is Vickie, I am a robot. :p
Hopefully I can remember, haha! My favorite part of the 80's for SURE was the Cabbage Patch Kids....I have a nice size collection of them, got most of them growing up!

I had a Cabbage Patch Premie and it smelled like baby powder...mmmmmm.
Okay all this talk about dolls got me to thinking of names so what were your Cabbage Patch kids names? My daughter had Lori Oriana, Baxter Birney and I can't remember the third one.
Well, I had two Cabbage Patch knock-offs and so I got to name them myself. One I named Samantha, I think. The other was an International doll, from France, and I named her Collette Nicole.

Like Meredith Baxter Birney, the mother from Family Ties? Now *that's* funny!
My sister had Stephanie Jane and I can't remember her other one...
I don't remember my premie's name; I'd have to dig out her "adoption papers". Actually, she's stuffed in a cardboard box somewhere so I'd have to dig her out too. haha Good thing they're not "real" babies. I didn't even like the cabbage patch kids, I thought they were kind of ugly but the premie smelled good! I was a Barbie girl...loved playing with their hair and dressing them up.
Oh, and who had Baby Alive?? So cool, she'd eat and poo and ya got to change her diaper!

Yeah, it was the same name, I knew of Meredith first on a show called Family, ended early 80's. She was the oldest daughter on that show and Kristy McNichol was the younger daugther, James Broderick (Matthew's dad) was the father. I remember Meredith had a great head of hair!!!
I think my cabbage patch kid was Louise Miranda or something like that. I still have her in my cedar chest, but I'm not sure about the adoption papers! I wanted one so badly, even though I was a little old for them (I was in 5th or 6th grade when they came out) but Santa delivered anyway.

I think Miranda is the third name I couldn't remember.
My daughter wanted one so bad too and the dolls were very hard to find here at the time. I got lucky and was standing in the store when a sales clerk brought out five of them. She wanted a blonde and Lori was a red head...she got her first lesson in not being able to choose when you become a new mommy and she loved her little red head!
People actually grabbed them out of children's arms in the store because they were so scarce. What crazy dispirit people! I was glad it was a small store and I was parked close.

Both of my kids had Cabbage Patch kids. My DD had one named Tamera Lynn and my DS had one named Marko Brian. But during the 80's my son didn't play with his any more, he was more into collecting Garbage Pail Kids...anyone remember those awful things....lol

Both of my kids had Cabbage Patch kids too! Even I had/have a set of Cabbage Patch Twins. They are still in remarkable condition.
Son got in to the Garbage Pail Kid Cards too. He had a photo album of sorts that had all of his GP Cards in it. Sure was glad to see that go into the trash a few years ago! They were totally disgusting! Janice
I was one of the moms that stood in line for hours to get my kids a Cabbage Patch kid. I saw many a "mom" grab them from other ppl and run for the cash register before anyone got them! There were also moms out front of the store where they had just bought the CPK selling them for unGodly amounts! And ppl were actually buying them! Those were were desperate ppl!!

It wasn't Pee Wee in person just a commercial about him on that old TV channel network, they are probably doing a weekend fest on him...if so I won't be staying around for that one.
They were showing eps of Pee Wee's Playhouse on [adult swim] on Cartoon Network. I watched the first night and just had to laugh, because some of it was still funny.... particularly Laurence Fishburne as Curly the Cowboy *L* Heck of a career starter, that!
Anyone notice that the wearing of leggings under skirts is coming back? Honestly...
I was born at the end of '79, so I'm more of a late '80's child, plus I was out of the country for 3 years during the decade... but man, I loved the cartoons. Voltron just kicked ***, and then you had the original Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles (can't tell you how many of THOSE toys are still in my mom's attic!), Smurfs, Rainbow Brite, Strawberry Shortcake, Gummi Bears, Shirt tails, She-ra, He-man, transformers, Care bears (again with those toys)... oh the list is endless.
Oh, anyone have the Michael Jackson doll? My sister had one (before he lost his face and became bleached), complete with the silver glove and all. *L* Mom was very disappointed that he isn't going for much on ebay!

p.s. I can do this VSN.....I am off Saturday! YAY
OMG...love Z Cavaricchi jeans!!! They were the best...but very expensive!!

*L* My mom wanted a premie baby one, and bald at that. We were living in Aussie at the time, but that is one of the few things I remember was that Christmas when she unwrapped it and exclaimed, "Oh good it's bald!!" So I don't think you were too old to have a CPK
Hey...with this event only a week away...how come no one is posting...are we all busy mentally preparing? Is there another thread everyone has moved to? What about a shopping list? I've never done a VSN so I'm clueless about what I need to do!
