I got some of the new Cuttlebug combo embossing and die sets, but am not enjoying using them. I tried embossing first, then laying the die on to cut, but it's kind of tricky lining everything up and more often than not the paper shifts. Anybody have any secrets to using these?
I've tried a very low tack masking tape to hold it in place for the second step with pretty good results.. The cheaper the tape, the better, because it's even lower tack.
I lay my cut image in the side of the embossing folder that is indented with the shape, then close it tightly with my hands before putting it into my die cut machine. The initial emboss just from closing it tightly with my hands seems to work well for me...keeps the image in place through the die machine.
look-inkgood.......With the Cuttlebug combo die/emboss, you cut the shape then emboss. You do still need to lay the cut piece in the embossing folder, but it's really not that difficult to do. Tape is not necessary if you're careful with closing the folder. Just be sure to have it as even as possible in the embossing folder.
I feel your pain Lynne! I don't know which sets you're using but I have the Christmas trees cut/emboss combo set and I've tried embossing a couple of trees at a time and one always shifts when I close the folder. I have to emboss one at a time - it's more time consuming but at least I get perfectly embossed trees that way.
*sigh* I wish I'd have thought of trying tape before cutting and embossing 30 trees for my card group  Thanks for that tip, I'll try that next time I use that set!
