Default Xyron 250 or 510?

The Xyron 250 looks like it would work for the 2" cuttlebug dies.
It says will accept 2 & 1/2 inch paper.

Right now the only thing I would use it for are small intricate Cuttlebug or Sizzix dies and I currently only have 3 of them
I have no use for alphabet letters as I don't make scrap book pages I am just making cards

I don't want to waste the adhesive cartridge so, I am think of getting the 250 model. It wouldn't cost much with a 40% off coupon and the cartridges for the 250 are around $10 for 20 ft

The 510 would also do laminating or attach magnetic backing.
I guess my thoughts are that I don't want to buy the smaller one and then find out in a couple of weeks that it won't work for my needs and I need the larger 510.
I am sure both sizes may be nice to have in time.

Any opinions welcome !!
Thanks
Barbara

I have both, and would suggest the 510. I don't often use it for magnets, except for cards to put on the refrigerator, such as Dr., Hairdresser, etc. I do laminate bookmarks frequently. You can try to put two things in at a time to save the cartridges. Whichever you decide, I think you'll be happy. Eileen

I vote for the 510, as well - solely because there is more space. I've got a 250 and a 500 and the 250 is sometimes not wide enough for what I need to run through. I also have one that holds up to 8 1/2 x 11 (can't remember the model number) that can use any type of media but I rarely if ever use it for more than adhesive or laminate.

Hope that helps.

I have the X, 250 and the 500 (older model of the 510). I use them for adhesive only. I love all 3 of them and find each to be very useful. I only make cards, so these machines fit my size needs very well. If the budget allows, I would go for all 3.

To make the most of the 250 and the 510. lay the items sideways to put 2 of them long ways.

I also have the X, 250 and 510 and use them mainly for adhesive. If I'm doing bookmarks for the kids at church or my girls then I use the laminating refill in the 510. I pick up extra refills when Hobby lobby has them on sale either 30% or 50% off.

I would go with the 510, you can always put 2 smaller pieces side by side, but you cannot fit a larger piece in the 250

I have the X and the 900. Love them both. I have found the X to be a bit small so I will prob go with one lgr. I love the 900 because I cut and fold 2 card bases and run them through side by side, use one and save the other with the backing on. Then when I am ready for another card the adhesive is already on a formed card base and there is almost zero waste! Also, when making little things, I run a bunch of pieces through as closely together as possible, use the ones I am needing and leave the others on the backing just as if it were a sticker. I HATE wasting any adhesive!

Thanks very much.
I had not thought of running two different papers side by side for narrow dies.
and leaving one of them for later.
I think I will start with the 510.
I can buy the adhesive cartridges with 40% coupons.
I am not in a position to buy more than one Xyron right now so it helps to ask for " expert " opinions.

Ok...to you guys that have a 5" inch Xyron....I was using mine for the first time at school this past week. I was making bulletin board items. Anyhow....the thing got jammed up and stop rolling. I cut the paper and clear stuff to get it untangled and now I can't figure out how to get it working again. Any ideas?

Contact Xyron. The company has an outstand customer service record. The contact info is on their web site (http://www.xyron.com)

I checked on the site. I'm going to try to see if I can get a response from an email. I just need to know how to rethread it. I just can't figure it out.
