I am hoping somebody out here who has all the distress ink pad colors would be willing to do a side by side comparison.
What I'm looking for are color swatches with all the similar colors grouped together. All the blues, browns, greens, etc.
I am hoping to buy some of these soon, but all the shopping sites have them arranged by release or something; and some of the colors appear similar. Such as Peeled Paint and Shabby Shutters.
I am a very visual person and it would help me a lot to see swatches of these colors on paper grouped together so I can decide what to buy.
Anybody out there with these inks, a little time on your hands and a camera willing to put this together and post some pictures? Or has this already been done and I'm just not looking in the right place?
@iamvics....That was a great link thanks. I've seen something similar on other sites. But I still could use to see all the colors from a color family next to each other.
Like, Tumbled Glass, Broken China, Chipped Sapphire, Faded Jeans, Stormy Sky.....just laid out next to each other so I could get a better feel for the progression of "blues" and figure out if I really "NEED" them all right now or would I be happy with three out of five; KWIM?
I figure I'll get them all eventually, unless I get some and just can't work with them. But if I end up with them all I will probably make a color chart like this for myself just for reference.
I was kind of hoping someone else's brain worked like mine and maybe they had all the distress inks laid out this way on some paper we all seem to use. Like SU, or PTI, or GinaK or even some of that Georgia Pacific from Walmart.
Ohhhhhhhh I think we have similar brains! LOL I actually made myself a color chart with all the distress inks, but I stamped each color with a small solid stamp next to each name. I have them all on one sheet of white cardstock - 3 columns with color families grouped together. I can try to take a picture of it for you when I get home from work - not sure if it will help because I used a small stamp instead of a big ol 3x3 swatch.
I have a swatch book with all the distress ink colors, and I just took pictures of them, but my stupid "easy to use" camera will not give them up. I'll keep trying and post them as soon as I can, but it might not be until my DH gets home and makes the stupid camera work. Most of the colors that appear similar are complimentary versions of each other... Shabby Shutters is a lighter version of Peeled Paint, Tumbled Glass (LOVE this color) is a lighter version of Broken China and so on.
Here is a scan of my chart. It isn't the best color quality because my stupid scanner/printer is working the best either. Hope it helps you a little, anyway.
THANK YOU!! That chart is awesome! And I welcome any others of those that say they have them but will post later. That really helped. I can see the difference between the ones that look so similar.
This will help me decide which ones to get; and which ones to wait on. I don't NEED to have them all right away....:-). Of course, having them all is FUN....
OK, here are the pictures of my swatches. They're not the best pictures, hopefully you can get an idea of the colors. They're all direct to paper, with clear embossing powder used on the bottom, I used a weed stamp on each one just to compare the intensity. The blobs that are on some are the distress stickles in the same color. The top left corner is what each color looks like when applied to paper with a foam applicator. Does this help?
If you want to stamp your own color chart like the one annie did in post 6, then go to the link Vic posted in post 2. Right under the ink pad on that page is annie's color swatch chart in PDF. You can print it there.
AMANDA!! That is an AWESOME swatch collection. Exactly how I would do it if/when I own all the colors. Thank you for taking the time to photograph it and share. It will really help me decide which colors to buy first. Thank you VERY much!
Thanks... I shamelessly copied what I saw a lady do on YouTube when she got all the new colors. It comes in very handy to put in my purse to take to the store with me so I can match colors and remember which reinkers and Stickles I have. I'm going to have to add swatches of the Core'dinations cardstock in all the Distress Ink colors that I just got this weekend... yes, I am a Distress Ink addict. No, I am not ready to seek treatment for it. :-)
Thanks cobby for asking if anyone could do this.
Vic thanks for the link, I found it so useful.
annie thanks for letting us see your chart.
Amanda thanks for showing us your swatches. I found all this information us helpful. Now I too know what colors I need now and which ones I can wait on. Once again the ladies on this site have shown how wonderful they are. Now I'm off to spend some money!
