I just purchased a Cuttlebug. What fun! There isn't much as far as instructions. I was wondering what type of materials it can be used with (besides chipboard and paper.) Also please share if you have any helpful tips on getting the best results.
I just bought one as well and after using it 5 or 6 times, realized I've been putting the dies in metal side up--which I've come to find out is WRONG. No wonder they were bending on me :( Anyway, I've only used paper so far, but I find that after I emboss something and want to trim it with my paper cutter, the blade gets caught and won't cut through the embossed paper without tearing it. Does anyone else have that problem? Is it my paper cutter or am I doing something wrong?
clear plastic like baggies, hard plastic like from what the cuttlebug dies come in, or any hard plastic that is flat. the thicker plastic turns almost a blue/white - very cool looking.
I like to use foil, too. I ran foil through with the floral embossing folder then highlighted the flowers and leaves/stems with liquid pearls. It turned out really pretty, and as a beginner, I felt like I had done something really complicated! Have fun with your new bug! Paint chip samples are fun to run through and emboss too.
and some of the paint chip samples are good sized and actually have adhesive peel off backing - don't remember the brand - used them for dies and for embossing.

Search in the threads for an original post for what's called "Cuttlebug Sandwich Stack Rules" if you are interested in using other brand dies, embossing plates, ie: Fiskars Texture Plates, Big Impressions Texture plates, and also, (Sizzix) Simple Impressions EB folders, BigShot Embossing Folders, also Lasting Impressions Brass Templtes as well as other brass stencils. It's very handy to have so you don't have to drag out all of your other tools. Good luck and have fun!(That's what it's all about!)
