What are considered embellishments

We all know that ribbon, brads charms, eyelets, buttons, primas, chipboard letters and clips are embellishments. But for us somewhat new people, are stickles, patterned paper, stitching or faux stitching, embossing, tags and glitter considered embellishments? Also can you name any others. Thanks for any help and clarification you might be able to give.

I think the ones in your first sentence are and the ones in your second sentence are not. To me they are dimensional things you add on. The other things are just garnishes so to speak.

Well, according to Wikipedia, "An Embellishment is anything that enhances the appearing of something without having any functional purpose."

... which could also apply to me some days!

Okay, they do go on to say "In sewing and crafts, an embellishment is anything that adds design interest to the piece."

Using that definition, you really could call just about anything extra that you add to the card as a decoration an embellishment.
