Tipped Top-like panels?

I'm no engineer, but it seems to me that I could make card panels that look like the Papertrey Tipped top dies...yet I am math-challenged and can't wrap my brain around the measurements!
anyone try this yet or know how to do it?
these are the dies I'm talking about... they only give the overall measurements.

My advice is to copy and paste an image of the die into a Word document. Then you can drag the corners to make whatever size card you want. Print out the image and use it as a template.

I don't think the maths actually matters- I'd take the smallest measurement as being the shortest side, then add maybe an inch to that for the tallest side. Cut it and see if it looks ok to your eyes. I really think its a matter of what 'looks' right, rather than anything specific.

I think when I made a card that had that look, I just cut an A2 panel. Then I played around with how I wanted it on the card front, as far as the angle and all that. Then you can either adhere it and trim, or flip the card over, mark the outline and trim. If you did that, you'd have a template.

It was the blue layer on this card. I'm sure I didn't measure a dang thing.

It's hard to come up with measurements because you would need not only lengths of sides, but angles, too: not all of those are right angles, so it's harder to get the trimming right.

I agree - start with an A2 panel size, and mark/cut it until it looks right to your eye. Then save it as a template to trace around and cut.

I would not pay for a die to make something like this. Plus, I think it would be a lot quicker to just trace and cut, than to get out my Cuttlebug and plates, and use a die.:smile:

It's a 90 degree angle bottom & left so it should be easy to trim the other two on your trimmer. Since they list the dimensions, just tilt the top & right sides to match these: 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"

I went to the Papertrey site to see what you all were talking about and I have that set...don't adk if I have ever used it...lol!
I am going to have to try this die now.
