Default Substitute for E6000???

I have looked high and low for E6000, and cannot find it anywhere here in Ottawa. I have started my first coaster box, and would like to make the paper clips sometime soon.

Is there a strong glue that I can use as a substitute for E6000 to glue the bottom coaster on the box? And for the paper clips?

I know a lot of people have used Crystal Effects with good results....I've used it for a few things in the past. But is it really strong enough? Especially for the paper clip???

Any help would be much appreciated!

TIA!

In other threads, I have read that the Crystal Effects holds fine. Pop up glue dots have also been used.

Thanks for your help. I think I will do a trial run with CE and see what happens!

Zip Dry also works well on the clips and for cardmaking and scrapbooking.
Do not know if they have it where you are, JoAnn's carries it?

try your hardware or home improvement store. You wont find this glue at a regular craft supply store.

I have used Crystal Effects and FabriTac for the coaster boxes. Both worked great! For the clippies, I use a couple glue dots to hold the paper clip to the back piece, and then I put Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive around the edges. I use little clothespins to hold it together for a minute while it dries.

I get my E6000 at Wal Mart. Oh my gosh..........can't imagine not being able to find it when you want something to hold. The way I found out about it was when SU had convention in Vegas & if you used hot glue on the plastic backs they just popped off so they got E6000 and it was GREAT. For others that haven't used it, it comes in a silver tube. Kind of stinky until it dries.

If you can't find it in crafts, check in hardware or plumbing...clear silicone. My sis used clear silcone to "glue" vases and something else together for her wedding.

All the major craft stores around here sell it. You should also try jewelry supply stores/websites. I first learned about E600 when I was taking beading classes. Now I use it for lots of things.

Plumber's Goop and Crafter's Goop are the same formula as E6000, so look for those too. Be sure to follow all instructions when using this stuff...it's very toxic. Adequate ventilation, no open drink containers, no exposed food and no smoking when using it. It should not be used by kids under 12, nursing mothers. pregnant women, or anyone with allergies or breathing problems. Great stuff, but you do have to be careful when using it.

I'm in Calgary - and I got mine at Michael's - you should be able to find it in Ottawa at Mikes. Its in the adhesive aisle though where modpodge is.

Speaking of coasters - where can you find them and what's a good price?

this interests me too, E6000 is smelly and hard to apply. I find the crystal effects and Ranger's glossy accents are strong enough but not as flexible but still a fair substitute.
