I have tried to search the Cuttlebug FAQs without success - Can anyone tell me if the Movers and Shapers can be used the Cuttlebug. I am in the process of placing an order and need some advise. I am along way away from my demo and I only get to place an order once or twice a year and don't want to spend money on something I cannot use.
Yes, I got both sets of the M&S - one in the catlalog and the Holiday set in the new Mini. Stack from bottom up: C plate, cardstock, die, C plate. I had bought the large die they go with from another website for only $20. Then I realized that because it cuts a standard 4.25 x 5.5 card, you would have to cut the cardstock slightly larger than that for the die. What a waste! Normally you can get 2 cards from a 8.5 x 11 inch piece of cardstock. Well I suppose if you cut the cardstock in half and then very carefully lining it up on the die, you would not waste paper. So, with the stack I mentioned above you can still cut the window where you want. Additionally, the big die I got does the horizontal card only which is not the normal orientation I use. Now I can use it either way. Just be careful that the die doesn't shift when you put the stack in the CB to cut and you will be fine.

Bonus: the negatives are great shape punches. You get 4 shapes that if you bought the four punches would cost twice as much. The die shapes are about 1/8" larger all around than the punches which is nice for layering, but if you just want the shapes it's a good alternative.

If you plan to buy the big die that goes with the window shapes, you can still use it in your CB. If you buy the extended plates though, you would have to cut them down about 1/4" (if you have a table saw or know someone who could do this for you). Otherwise, use the regular CBug C plates, rolling thru once and then carefully shift them to the other end of the large die to complete the cut. Hope that makes sense.

What extended plates are you referring to? The texture plates?
The big shot extended cutting pads (clear) - they are longer than the cuttlebug cutting plates, as they are designed to cover the full length of the larger big shot dies.
The extended cutting pads, according to someone on another thread here, are about a 1/4" too wide to fit in the CBug, so you would have to cut them down to size somehow.

The big dies you refer to that need these oversized plates are called Big XL in the catalog?
The oversize plates are the acrylic spacers/cutting pads, they are twice as long as the regular Cbug space/cutting pads, but they are too wide for the Cbug. They are only needed for the dies that are extra long - about 12".

Are you saying that you don't have to get the big die to use the M&S dies? I've been trying to figure that out as I don't really want to invest in the big die if I don't have to.
I have used the extra long sizzix dies in my bug I have a post on my blog showing you how to do this here I hope this helps. It really does work I promise!
