I apologize if this topic has been discussed but I couldn't find it! I just saw a die for a tall bag (cute!) that goes with the Big Shot Pro. So is the Big Shot Pro different than the Big Shot? Is it a different size? What would make it different? I went on the Sizziz website and I saw the product but still don't know if it's actually different than the original Big Shot. Does anyone know?
Oh no!! Another temptation. I was guessing it had to be bigger based on the description of the bag die I saw. Darn these people for inventing more and more enticing products. Thanks!
I have the pro. I bought it after considering the bigshot. But I mostly scrapbook so I wanted to be able to do the 12X12 dies. I have not been disappointed. I can cut any die...any size, it is just a matter of finding the right sandwhich. If there is a drawback, it is the weight...it is 44 lbs. I lug it on an off the shelf but man....it sucks!!! But, it is well made!!!! I think my money was well spent getting the biggest and being able to to cut all dies, I just can't wait till I have my own craft room so it doesn't have to go back on the playroom shelf all the time!!!! I can't wait for the 12X12 embossing folders!!!!!
I'm not sure where you live but the Sizzix (Ellison) company is located in Orange County, Ca. and they have wherehouse sales. They sell the bigshot pro and lots of other dies for much lower prices. I am considering buying one also because of the wonderful dies they have for it but will only purchase it at the sale for a lower price.
Does the Pro cut Accucut's giant dies? I have the Mark IV by Accucut and it cuts up to super jumbo but it's 12x12 scrapbook layout/template dies I believe will only fit the Grandmark (which for Accucut, cuts all die sizes ).
And this is what it says about the size on Sizzix's website: For the crafter who wants it all comes the pro-strength machine that does it all. From our smallest dies to our biggest 12" x 12 3/4" plastic-backed treasures, the Big Shot Pro Machine works with every Sizzix and Ellison design ever made.
I have one and I love it, love it, love it!!! I bought it when I found out the Grand nesties were acomin'.
And the best thing....every die I own goes through but as been said already here in it is just finding the right sandwich.
But even that is not a problem anymore. I purchased a 12 x 12 cutting plate for my Nesties (same material as the white one from the Cuttlebug) from a scrapbook company in Germany.

Where did you get the cutting plate from for the Nesties? I am very interested!
Hi there!!
Just saw your post. I bought the plate at a German scrapbookcompany named Creativ Stempel- und Scrapbookingshop.
The plate costs €43,90; I think that's about $62,49.
I admit, the price is steep but I must say it's worth it!!
Had a weak moment this morning. The Big Shot Pro was on Overstock.com for $231.99, including the extended cutting pads/platform . . . . what have I done?? LOL Well, I guess I can justify it since it will cut ALL the dies, right???

Funny, Jen, I just came here to post about the price at Overstock - my BSP (it's the Westminster edition with the 12x24 tray and the purple highlights) arrived yesterday and I'm thrilled with it. It's so much smoother (and bigger and heavier) than my Cuttlebug. The $230 is an amazing price if you're at all interested in the 12x24 - it lists for $399. I'm going to buy some smaller cutting pads for when I'm cutting paper and not fabric.
I'm hoping I got the right one, it was so hard to see exactly what was printed on it (the name). It's definitely purple in the picture, but I don't think it said Westminster, so hopefully it really IS the one with the extended mats. I have a Cuttlebug my hubby bought me a couple Christmases ago & have been debating on the Big Shot, but since the Pro can cut ALL the dies, I'm thinking it will be worth the $$ in the end.

The one without the extended mats is $290-ish. If you paid $230-ish, you got the same one I did, and it certainly does have the extended mats.
It only says "westminster" on one side, the photo on the Overstock site is of the side that doesn't say that - figures, right?
I didn't post about the deal earlier because I thought it was too good to be true - and I didn't want to post and look silly. I'm thrilled with my bargain and I hope you like yours, too. It's a completely different animal from the Cuttlebug, that's for sure.
Whew! Glad to hear it's the right one. I NEVER buy stuff like that on a whim, but I've been researching for a while. The price DID seem too good to be true. I figured if it wasn't the "right" one, I'd just return it, but I'm sure it would be more than $2.95 shipping like on the "O" site!!!!
Where are you shopping for you Pro dies? I definitely want the dress one. They're expensive but I figure they'll pay for themselves over time in use.

Joann has 40% off die cutting this week - they have the pro dies, but online only. They have the dress die for $36, but I don't know enough to know if that's a good price or not.
I'm coming to the pro wanting the quilting aspect so I've been looking around at those dies. Sadly, they're expensive, too
BTW, this thing is big (especially in the shipping box - it's almost 3ft long!) I'm sure UPS wasn't too pleased with me, I wasn't home when they delivered.
I need to figure out the adaptors for the embossing & nesties. I bought a small sizzix die at Michael's (just so I have something to cut!!), and the BSP cut 4 layers of thick flannel like a hot knife through buttah I'm pretty impressed with it, which is good, becuase it was a total impulse purchase for me, too. I have a basic quilt die arriving tomorrow (by Accuquilt GO!, the BSP is supposed to be able to cut this, too) so I'll know more then.
Yikes. My hubby will have a stroke when that box comes . . . I know it's big, but 3 FEET? :o Oh boy . . . So much for trying to sneak THAT past him into the craft room LOL (Just kidding.)
My DD16 wants to try quilting, so that was behind part of this too. Glad to hear it cuts fabric as advertised, that'll be something fun we can do together.

I guess I exaggerated a bit - it's 29x20x13, so not 3 feet, but huge all the same - there would have been no way for me to sneak it in, it's way more than an armful for me.
Was just over on the Joann site - guess I'll be putting an order in there too ;)

I bought mine about a year ago and love it. I contacted Sizzix and they were helpful and I also signed onto their site. They have a Tuesday special every week and some of the items go on sale there. They have everything for the BSP and run sales but Joann's also has dies. I've been very happy with Sizzix sales and response.
It is heavy but I don't drag it anywhere if I don't have to. For little things I run my Cuttlebug until it dies then I'm going to get a smaller big shot for quick small projects when I need to travel.
I am getting a Big Shot Pro next month and am very excited I think it is worth the investment to be able to do bigger projects that I want so badly to do! I've been saving up for a long time and I cannot wait!!

You won't be disappointed. I use mine all the time.

You'll be able to run grands spellbinders, can turn embossing folders so a single image could be embossed around the edges - depending on the image. Ex: the new SU embossing folder "Flower Garden". Run parts of it around all of the edges of the paper and it leaves a center area for a beautiful sentiment or whatever you wish.
I signed up for Sizzix newsletter. They send out sales every Tuesday with selected items at 50% off (bought an embossing folder I had been looking for and for only a couple of dollars, so I could pick out a few more for what a regular folder would have cost. Also, they have an outlet at SizzixOutlet.com, and they notify you about new releases in the Sizzix Scoop.
I love it because you can run multiple items or single items and it handles everything as long as you have the appropriate accessories.
Oh my gosh, it came today!! I haven't used it yet (writing a paper - working on my MSN), but I did give in to temptation & unpacked it & got it set up. (see photo). It's a little awkward - my laundry chute thing sits above the table, but I'm a shorty so should be okay LOL Unfortunately, DH probably isn't going to be real thrilled because I had to shift everything over to set up the table - my craft space is a wall in our laundry room, which is on the first floor & it makes the hallway (which is to the right but you can't actually see it) narrow & he has very wide shoulders, but oh well. I'm gonna have to move my Cricut & the other stuff onto my desk when I use the BSP, but DS21 just graduated from college, so maybe in a couple of years I'll be able to have my own craft ROOM? Well, a girl can dream, right? ;)

Congrats, you are going to love it. It is heavy but well made! I LOVE mine!!!! I did banners for my son's kindergarten class, 9 banners in all. It was a big job but the kids thought it was great to have a banner hanging with their names on them for all to see!!! It did an excellent job~ Enjoy playing!!!
That's so cool! My kids are pretty grown up (21 & 16) :( How did you make the banners? That could be something I could do for the young 'uns I work with who have little ones . . .

Sizzix.com has an outlet site linked to it and it has really incredible deals on clearance items even cheaper than Joann sales or o.co. I have also found just doing a google search for sizzix pro clearance helps find obscure sales. Accucut dies can be found on ebay for good prices too, just set up a search and have it emailed to you.
Hi all! I'm contemplating buying the BSP. I found it on Overstock, as you guys did. I was trying to figure out what the difference is between the purple one & the more expensive periwinkle one. Since several of you bought the purple one, does it come with every thing you need to use it? The purple one looks like it comes with a tray & the periwinkle on looks like it comes with an adapter pad (like the big shot) where you flip the layers depending on what you are cutting or embossing. So, I just want to make sure whether or not I have to order other stuff to go with the purple one, in which case it may be cheaper to go with the periwinkle one??
BTW....after reading this thread, I have decided I want to buy it, just trying to figure out which one to buy. As big as it is, I don't want the hassle of having to return it!!
Does the Pro cut Accucut's giant dies? I have the Mark IV by Accucut and it cuts up to super jumbo
The Big Shot Pro cuts up to Super Jumbo as well. It does not cut the Giant dies. Only the Grande Mark does that. (I'm planning on buying one of these two machines next year, so I've been doing as much research as possible.)
So Teebees - I live close to Orange County, but i have searched and can't exactly find out where this store is, and how I found out about their sales. Any information you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
