Hi, I have a favor and I hope it is helpful to others who see this thread also.
I do not have single punch (well I do have the 2 small ones for alphabits).
I want to order a few in my sab order so I want to know which ones to you use all the time and couldn't live without and why.
Would you be willing to give us a link to a card you made using your favorite punch?
1) Largest circle punch (making curve top tags & adding a little "something")
2) 1/2 in" circle (Alphadots & Little Pieces)
3) 1/8th " circle (all cord fits perfectly & it's the size for eyelets)
4) Tag punch - duh!
5) Word Window - I keep finding more & more uses for that punched out piece (hinge w/brad, Everyday flex & Expressive flex phrases, fold it into ribbon tabs, etc)
I don't use my large squares because I can cut them just as quickly with my Fiskars trimmer. Hope that helps - sorry - I have no idea how to do that link thing & I'm not a prolific "uploader" . . .
1 - the large square one (soooo much easier to punch than cut) - use it for windows, shaker card frames, and so many of the SU stamps are made to fit perfectly in the punch.
2 - Word window - perfect for spinner cards as well as the ideas given by Estrovan.
Do a search in the gallery with keywords word+window+punch or square+punch and you'll see all kinds of great ideas.
I hadn't thought of folding the word window into ribbon tabs!
Jen, you've seen the cards that have the ribbons folded in half and stapled to card layers? What I'm picturing is that you take the punched out piece of the word window (you'll have a squished oval shaped piece) and fold it in half and into a little "V" shape then attach that to the card. I love that idea!
I could not live without my handheld punches...I think that i use the one sized for eyelets the most...so much easier than getting out the hammer and hole puncher tool. But I also love love love the hand held rectangle punch.
Also...tag punch! WOO HOO! And I want to get the Slit Punch!
In January I'm going to buy the word window punch, the 1/2" circle punch, the small corner rounder, and the slit punch. There are so many cute examples with these punches! In the SAB catalog the slit punch and corner rounder are used several times. I want the square punches and large circle punches too, but they will have to wait...

My vote for can't live without are the 1/8 and 1/16 punches. They are right handy on my table and I am constantly reaching for them for eyelets, brads, ribbon etc, and the last use I found for the 1/16 was to 'notch' the edge of a card to keep the cord from slipping around.
The other one I have used a lot is the Snow Flake punch. It is great for making quick winter/Christmas cards and gifts when you don't have a lot of time to stamp something.
For me, it's the tag punch, word window punch, 1/8 handheld, and 1/16 handheld. Also, if you get the tag punch kit, the daisy punch works perfectly on one of the tags.
I adore the Irish punch....not SU.... You will use it a lot ! Also, the tag punch is one the most certainly to order....at first, I thought I could live without it, but finally ordered it and use it daily! There is a SU punch that I like to use for holding pictures...the lacy corner punch...can't recall the name....maybe "iron work" punch. Have fun using these!

I pretty much agree with all of the posters above (and have been slowly adding all of those punches to my arsenal). My additional .02 is the Wrought Iron and Simplicity corner punches. Great to hold photo's (if you scrapbook) and for that extra touch on a handmade card.
They are all really great- You can't go wrong with any of them. Since Valentines is coming up maybe you would like to try the heart, I use that a lot. Other punches....Both square or both circle punches to layer onto each other- I probably use those four the most. I do also use the 1/8, and 1/16th fir eyelets, but thought I heard they changed them (any newer packages) so you can no longer use them for that.
Good Luck, I am also on my way to trying to get them all!

Changed what? The size of the eyelet? I'm not understanding this.
I love my SU! slit punch, because you can use it so many ways. I also love the SU! snowflake punch and the snowman punch - plus you can use the pieces that are punched out of the snowflake punch as little arms for the snowman!! Also, the flower punch is a must for me!!
I recommend word window, square step corner punch (use it very often), tag and the folk heart. I just love punches and they are ALL awesome! Circles and squares are wonderful too! Enjoy!!

Oh my goodness, I have been gone all day so I just saw all the responses and they have been very helpful. The most helpful tip to me was the one teaching me how to do the search. I went to the gallery and typed in word window punch. I saw some of the coolest things using this punch. One person used the punch to make tags, kind of like army tags. Another used it to look like a latch on the side of the card and another to thread ribbon through. These ideas have totally made it clear to me why this punch is a must. Thanks for the ideas and responses!

I'm having a big "duh" moment. Can you please explain how you use the circle punch for making curve top tags? I just can't seem to wrap my brain around that one, but I have lots of circle punches and It would be great to use them for that!
I have another punch question. I have been looking at cards in the gallery using punches and it seems about the only thing to do with the double punch is for ribbons. I stink at tying ribbons so I think I will get this. BUT, I do have the handheld single hole punch so couldn't I just punch that twice? Or would I end up not getting the holes even? Is the double circle punch one that you all use?

I love the double rectangle punch because it gets the holes much more even. It takes the guesswork out of the whole thing. That being said, I use the single one for years with no major tragedies. LOL
The double circle punch is good for the smaller ribbons, while the rectangle one is good for the wide organdy and wider twill tapes. HTH

I don't get this either. It seems like it would be cutting in the wrong direction.

I think that what she means is that you punch out a circle in a ocntrasting color, fold it in half, and attatch it to a tag?? I'm not positive, but this is the only thing that came to mind for me.
like the tag on thi card it what I'm thinking Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
