Default Sizzix Vs. Quickutz, need opinions ASAP :)

ok, ladies, i need some great advice ....lol

My mom is getting me a Quickutz system for Christmas. I am so thrilled to be getting this, but have since learned that the closest place to buy dies here is 2+ hours from me!!!! (she is in NH)
It seems as tho Quickutz isnt as popular in the scrap stores as Sizzix.

Which one is better? Easier? I like Quickutz because of the lightweight tool and smaller dies.....but i will ask her to get a Sizzix, and if there is no place online to buy Quikcutz, because i wont drive over 2 hours for a 12 dollar die! lol TIA for your help!

I don't have either and don't want either, BUT, things to consider:

You can buy dies online for either product, and usually find them at somewhat of a discount if you shop around, and depending, the discount can cancel out the S & H costs you pay to get them delivered to you AND, you save yourself the gas and the time.

QuikKutz is more portable, however, limited in size? Probably great for just small dies and alpha dies, whereas Sizzix produces a larger range of die sizes, from what I've seen/observed.

Default Quickutz vs Sizzix

I have both - and TOTALLY love my Quickutz more. There are way more dies available - and as previously mentioned - you can buy them on-line often at a great discount. There is a website, www.crazyscrap.com where I buy mine. shipping is reasonable. PLUS - when you spend $100 or more (which you do when you buy a font) you get free shipping! And.... you don't pay sales tax since it is mail order.

The Quickutz is lighter, and more portable too. If you want bigger dies, most scrapbook stores have machines to use (if one is close to you.......)

just my input.

I don't have either, either (english  ). But I seem to recall some ladies had difficulty with quickutz if you have arthritis? Maybe someone reading can comment????

Anyway, again, needing to buy everything I read about hear, I'm thinking of getting one of these systems also, and I too am interested in opinions. Thanks for asking the question.

I have both as well and I like them both, I just found that the Quick Kutz is sooooo expensive. Of course I wanted a lot of different fonts and I bought the upper and lower of about 6 different sets. I spent almost 1600.0 on all of this. The sizzix can be bought on the Scrapbooking shop at home for super low prices. That is why I ended up buying the sizzix. Quick Kutz is nice because it is portable. I don't know if I helped any, but that was my experience with all of it;) Good luck

MY WMWH came home a couple of months ago bearing a Sizzix machine and a tower to hold the dies! He had some extra money and saw them on sale for 50% off, and couldn't resist! (one of the many reasons he is WMWH!)

I have never used a Quickutz but I've heard they are wonderful. I have no complaints at all about my Sizzix, though, I LOVE it! I only have three dies so far, and it is easy to use, even for me. I don't need a portable one, I keep it on a table in my office, but it's not so cumbersome I COULDN'T take it with me if I wanted to. Just a little heavy, as I imagine most would be. With the Sizzix, you can put an adapter in it to use the little Sizzlets, which are great, too. You don't need a whole new system. I'm not sure if Quickutz does large and small like Sizzix.

One of my friends sent me some of her Quickutz dies in a swap we did, and they were VERY cool! I liked them a lot, so I doubt you'd be disappointed in it as long as you can order dies online or find a place that sells them locally.

Enjoy your gift!!

I have the sizzix & really like it. I have never used the other one. My favorite is the sizzlits because you get the upper, lower, numbers & symbols all in one. Plus they all have shadows so it's like two sets in one if you use them with & without the shadows. You need the converter (about $14) for the sizzlits, but I think it's worth it. There was a post about this recently so you might want to search for it. I think someone said you can use the sizzix with the dies from the Quickuts. I have never tried it though.

Oh by the way never pay full price for them 40% of coupons at Micheals or Ebay (best price on sizzix) are the way to go.

I have the Quickuts and I LOVE it. I use it for cards or for making stickers for the back of envelopes. The designs that they have are great!
Hope this helps.

I actually just got the Sizzix Sidekick, which is significantly smaller than the Sizzix. It can use the dies for QuicKuts (QK doesn't use other dies as far as I know) and produces the same small dies that QK does. I am waiting (fingers crossed!) to see if I get an alphabet for X-mas (what I wanted the thing for in the first place) and figure if I need big dies, I can use the machines available at my local craft store. It's a BIG decision - I went with the Sidekick for size, price, and comfort - I heard the QK is murder on the hands, too.

Not to add to your decision, but there's also a machine called the Zip-E and it's supposed to be awesome (accepts ALL competitors dies) but I didn't hear about it until AFTER I got my Sidekick (go figure).

Good luck!

Default Quick KUTZ

I LOVE MY QUIK KUTZ. Its just the best tool I have ever gotten. My DH got it for me last year for my birthday with an entire alphabet set...and my best friend bought me another alphabet shortly after. One online place I know you can buy Quik Kutz at is www.memories.com That is one of our scrapbooking stores here in this area that I love. OH and memories is having a special on the Quik Kutz for the holiday season where you can order the hand tool (it comes in this COOL red color) and you get a set of Upper and Lower and Numbers of Eliza Mini Font for 189.99 which is a TOTAL steal!!!

I have both systems and like Quickutz much better because it's so small. The only downside is the size of the dies are limited to about a 2" square. I shop at CrazyScrap, like Hockey Fan, and have purchased some from ebay.

All vendors of Quickutz have to sign an agreement that says they won't sell the products for less than 30% off retail. You'll see this on some of the websites that carry Quickutz.

The good news, there are other companies that make dies that will work with Quickutz that are a little bit cheaper (like Zip'eSnaps).
