Has anyone used one of these for scrapbooking before? It seems like a perfect solution and price effective in the long run, but I am hoping to hear some feedback before I order one.
I love mine! I buy the Archival tape, just because it is such a small amount of extra $$ and I want it just in case. It was one of the best crafting purchases I have made. I live in the south with hot, sticky summers, but my tape has held true. Nothing falling off of cards or anything else I have made, and I can't say that for other tapes I have used.
It's great for scrapping if you are the type that places something and wants it to stay there forever... If you like to gently place things down and then shuffle them around if you aren't perfectly happy with the original placement, then be VERY careful using an ATG for scrapping.... Once it's stuck, it's stuck!
There are lots of threads here if you do a search for ATG. I would say that 99.9% of the people who have them love them. Most people here get them from http://www.framingsupplies.com I believe.
Thanks for the link- DH got me the gun last Mom's day but now I need refills and didn't know where to get them. TY!!!

Thanks in advance!
I bought mine from www.framingsupplies.com. I absolutely love it and will never go back to smaller tape runners. The tape is very good quality and as someone pointed out, it sticks. The savings on the tape over a period of time is well worth the initial expense of the gun. I got my DDIL one for Christmas.
And your welcome!
I'm seriously considering getting one of these. I was browsing the framingsupplies website but couldn't find the cheaper (not the gold) refill tapes. Does anyone know if that company carries them?

Hopefully this works (the link above) to the page with the tape refills. At the bottom of the page is a back arrow to go to the other page on their website that also has tape refills (the first page has the gold tape along with others) Hope this helps or makes sense!
I have this for card making and LOVE it. To me it is so easy to use and I love that the adhesive actually stays stuck! With Mono my cards would fall apart. You should definitely consider getting it!
It will be one of the best purchases you have ever made! I have 2 of them, the yellow one and the red one, one is for the 1/4" tape and one for the 1/2". I keep them hanging right over my counter in my stamp room.

Another fan here... and I think I prefer the standard tape vs the gold tape. The gold seems a litty gooier to me and based on one of the websites (might be framingsupplies) there's very little difference between the acid levels... If you're looking for feedback on this item, you've come to the right place... there's tons of ATG info on here... Cheers... ;)

I noticed that you can purchase an adapater that allows you to use the 1/4" tape with the yellow one. Do you think 1/2" tape is a real must-have? Do you use it for many projects or do you tend to grab for the 1/4" more often?

With the 714 you don't need the attachment. Double check to make sure. I love mine. Save so much $$$$ on refills and works better than anything else I have used.

I've had one for about 6 months. I was not sure I'd like it at first because it's so big, but I got used to it. It's not heavy and the adhesive is great, and so cheap! I really like it a lot. It's fast to use and did I say the adhesive is cheap!? LOL I use the Gold a/f version in the red gun. The refills are under $3 each, and have as much adhesive as 6 Duck adhesives. Also, the gun is super easy to load and I've had no issues with it jamming or messing up like I had with my other tape runners.
My only 2 issues are that I am left handed so that tape rolls off the "wrong" side of the gun, making it hard to see what I'm doing sometimes. Also the tape really sticks, so I have to be careful not to press down too hard until I am SURE my item is where I want it to be. I don't think they make a repositionable tape for the 1/4" gun.
Okay, but do I need to order both 1/2" and 1/4" tape? Is it worthwhile to change them out or would it be best to stick to 1/4" tape and just create double lines for larger projects? Does that make sense? I'm just not sure what size tape I need.
I just ordered mine today! My mom gave me a check for Christmas and I went right to framingsupplies.com and placed my order! Gee, wonder how soon I can begin stalking the mail carrier (or is it the UPS man???)
I have never used anything but 1/4" tape, but serious scrappers may prefer 1/2". I would just put two strips of it if I needed more. I read once that getting the adapter may not be the best idea because if you frequently put it on and take it off, it creates extra wear and tear on the tape gun, but I don't know about this from any personal experience. I think if I needed both, I would purchase two guns and have it ready at hand for use.
Great! I was thinking it would be a hassle to have two different tapes or two different guns. So you find that 1/4 tape handles all your needs? That's what I was needing to know. Thanks!

My opinion is that it is so sticky I have found that I am using actually less than in the past with the mono adhesive. I can't imagine ever needing 1/2" unless you were adhering more than just paper. But I agree that if I thought I needed both I would get a second gun. I don't think it is possible to take the refills off in the middle. I mean if it came unraveled. WOW! What a job to get it back together.
Hmm, I'm getting to the end of my herma refills. Maybe it's time to invest in an ATG...
You won't regret it! I do use other adhesives regularly (especially for classes), but my dozen rolls of 1/4" tape that I purchased last December were just replenished this December. The stuff lasts and lasts and framingsupplies.com is a great vendor.
Yup, that sums it up. I have the 714 and use it for EVERYTHING! I absolutely love it. The tape is so sticky, I have yet to use a "double swipe" to make anything stick. I had really heavy wrapping paper for Christmas gifts this year and all the ends and seams stuck beautifully - and travelled 400 miles! - with just one pass.
MY LLS just got them in and I cannot wait to get mine(I am hoping for my sisters discount)..Does ANYBODY have this small gun that is in the link below?? Wonder how much smaller it is the the 714
I went back and forth between the 700 & 714 and settled on the 714 simply because that 1/4 + 1/4 = 1/2, so if I ever need 1/2, I can easily put down two strips.

I use the 924 tape at Framingsupplies it is 36 yards for $2.44 plus shipping. Great price this is not the acid free one. Look under 3M products then "3M ATG TAPES" You should be able to find the gold there.
I LOVE my ATG tape gun. It does seem huge when you first get it but it is so light and easy to use. I wouldn't use anything else now. It holds great. With the humidity here a lot of things would fall off in the past when I made cards. I'd go back to mail one and the first layer would be off- with the ATG I've never had that problem. I love it!!!!!
I just saw this one at a local stamp store and it is not that much smaller than an ATG and it costs $30. I have the 714 and I love it. I don't usually need more than 1/4 inch to make anything stick.

I love my ATG 714.....for those of you that have encountered the once it is down it stays down problem - when I want to lift something I have adhered to the card take a piece of dental floss and slide it behind the image piece and gently wiggle the floss down which lifts the image off of the paper and doesn't tear the paper either. Works for me....
I promise!! If I had to get rid of some of my other tools, I could - but not this! For every card, almost every project, gift wrapping... It's unbeatable! As a previous poster said, I figure I can run two lines of the 1/4" if I need a wider strip, but very rarely have I felt the need to.
As far as the other adhesive tape gun shown, the refills are more than 3x what the ATG's are.
About the 3m ATG dispensers; The ATG 714 is usually a little more money because it is not as popular yet since it is a newer addition to the 3M line.
If you are not familiar with the 2 models, let me describe some features for you.
The 700 and the 714 are identical in size and feel. The 700 is yellow and the 714 is red. The 714 will only fit 1/4" wide tape up to 60 yards long. The 700 will fit 1/2" and 3/4" wide tape without using an adapter. You need to use an adapter on the 700 in order to use the 1/4" wide tape. The adapters work great but they do add a little weight to the dispenser and you need to use some simple tools to remove and replace the original parts with the adapter parts.
After you do install the adapter you can only use 1/4" tape in your dispenser. In order to use the wider tape again you will have to remove the adapter and replace it with the original parts. It is also a mess to remove the tape halfway through the roll to change over to another width.
Most of our craft customers are now buying the 714 dispensers. The advantage to them is the narrower width of tape. If you use mostly 1/4" wide tape it is a perfect dispenser for you. If once in awhile need a wider strip of tape it is a simple matter to just apply a second strip next to the first.
A lot of people wonder how much tape to buy. I usually suggest that they buy no more than they will use in 6 months or so. The tape does have a longer shelf life but unless you take special care with temperature and keeping it out of sunlight it might lose some of its effectiveness.

I'm wondering if you can use this tape as a substitute for SU's "Sticky Strip" to adhere micro beads? Anyone try this?
you can try...but it's really not as thick as the sticky strip...so I don't know how well it would hold up in that application...there are some applications that sticky strip is just beyond compare!!
My wonderful, dear husband got me an ATG 714 for Christmas! It's really fun and easy to use. He got it from Framingsupplies.com, and I'm posting this because we were both SO impressed by how it was packed. Even the UPS man thought it would be very difficult to damage an item packed like that! It had several layers of bubble wrap around the box, and the bubble wrap was completely covered in tape. Wow!
My mother has RA. Some tools are too difficult for her to use with the limited dexterity of her hands. She really is looking for a good adhesive though. So do you think the ATG is light enough and smooth enough for a person with arthritis?

I got an email last night - it was shipped yesterday and should be here Thursday via FedEx! Amazing service! Can't wait!!!

And if you order tape refills - they come the same way:p
