I am sick and tired of not getting a clean cut on my ribbon ends! I used to have a dedicated pair of "ribbon scissors", but after my kids got to using them, they don't do their dedicated job anymore.
Please tell me what your favorite pair of ribbon only scissors are. I am thinking of getting the Tim Holtz tonic scissors, but it seems like everyone is just using them for the rubber cutting (I have some kai's for that and I love them!). What's the best pair you have and how long have they lasted before /if they get dull?
Yep, Cutter Bees here too! I have 3 pair, one JUST for ribbon, one JUST for cutting cling foam (sticky) & one for everything else. They're at Michael's so of course ~~ coupon!!!!
I have heard that the SU Craft and Paper scissors are fantastic for ribbon. Those that have them say you can cut the ribbon cleanly without having to even hold the ribbon.
I have the Tim Holtz tonic scissors which I've been using for ribbon only. I didn't intend to but they are pretty I didn't want to muck them up on the EZ Mount/Rubber.
The Tonic scissors cut ribbon beautifully. I use the Kai scissor for cutting rubber.

I bought the SU Craft & Ribbon scissors.. I think that's what they are called.. they are $29.95.. worth every penny! I now have beautiful cut ribbon and nothing is wasted anymore. Pam

I bought a 3 pack of scissors for about $10 at costco. I use one for "anything" one for just ribbon and fabric and one was smaller like the snips and I use it for paper, or whatever.
They all work great for their jobs. I wrote on the blades with a sharpie to say what they are allowed to cut.
If they fail me I'm gonna get tonics, but so far they are working fine.

I have used CutterBee, Fiskars and my SU! Paper Snips and by far the best are the new SU! Craft & Ribbon Scissors. You won't believe it until you try them - they have wonderful weight and are so sharp. Get them - you won't be sorry!
I love my Tim Holtz Tonic ones. The serrated edge cuts the ribbon SO nicely.
I love these scissors too! They cut ribbon beautifully - and rubber! The non-stick surface is amazing! You can cut rubber and go immediately to your ribbon and it will cut that beautifully as well!
I have SU's ribbon scissors too - they work great as well. Tim's scissor's are half the price and if I had bought those first, I wouldn't have spent the money on SU's.
I have been really happy with my other Tonic products & would definitely buy their scissors (but I already have lots of scissors)!
I have a pair of the micro-tipped precision Fiskars that someone gave me for a gift. I always reach for them when cutting ribbon. They give a nice clean cut.
Joann's carries both the Fiskars and the Tonic scissors. I think AC Moore does too.
I think the key to your question is "ribbon only scissors". Typically I use my big gray Fiskars that I use specifically for sewing, of any kind. But I also have a pair of "cheapo" pink handled scissors (don't even know the brand) in my "spinner" and will grab those when I am in a hurry. I don't think I have ever used them with paper so they actually cut the ribbon quite nicely. I just think paper will dull them over time.

Yes, yes, yes! Ask any seamstress, and she'll tell you that using her fabric shears on paper is a hanging offense!

I agree, I think the key is to have a "ribbon only" pair and tie a piece of ribbon on them. :twisted: to anyone who uses them on anything else!
I use a pair of small embroidery scissors. I have about 5 pairs, one for embroidery, one for ribbon and (confession time) one for paper and one for wire! Thank goodness the embroidery one lives downstairs, one less to be sure to use the right one for the right job, LOL.

Me too! I use my KAI for everything else - 1 for cutting rubber and the other just for cutting. Tried the Tonic but didn't like the serrated edge. Guess it's all what you get used to!
I have some Heinkles sewing scissors that I have had for more than 30 years. These have never seen anything but fabric and my kids new that if they ever touched the red dot scissors they would be in deep trouble.
LOVE my Tim Holtz serrated edged scissors! I use them on ribbon and it's a perfect cut every time! Those are my "fancy" scissors! I feel so "professional" when I use them...how silly is that!!! tee hee
