Default Questions about Blended or Hybrid inks

ColorBox fluid chalk ink says it is a blended or Hybrid ink. Do all blended or hybrid inks look and act like the chalk ink looks? Chalk ink has a matte finish

If I am understanding this correctly blended ink is a mixture of pigment and die ink in one ink .

Has anyone used the "Fun Stampers Journey" ink? They say their ink is blended or hybrid ink , but they don't say it is chalk ink .
They have the ink pads AND the reinkers in all the colors

I am trying to find a replacement for Colorbox fluid chalk ink. I don't want to need to buy an ink pad at one place and the reinker at another place for each color I want . That would be too much rigmarole and postage . No one stocks all the colors of Colorbox Fluid Chalk ink so I could spend all of my time hunting for ink pad or reinkers

Have you used any other brand of blended ink and how did it work?
Thanks
Barbara

Oh that would be wonderful. Thank you !!

I will make and send some Arianna Bloom flowers for you to use on cards . I am sure you don't have time to make flowers considering all the cards you make.
Do you have any color preference??
Barbara

P.S. Do you have a Fun Stampers Journey consultant where I could buy the ink if it works out?

Barbara, I don't believe all hybrid inks are chalk inks. Stewart Superior has Palette ink which is a hybrid but does not seem to have the same properties as a chalk ink. ColorBox is my favorite chalk ink also but I also have a lot of VersaMagic chalk ink pads. Apparently Hero Arts has a line of chalk ink also but I have not used these.

I do not have someone to buy from at FSJ. I do make quite a few things with Ariana blooms but I am going to use them again soon with the lacy set you just purchased.

You dont have to do anything for me Barbara. It makes me happy to pass on things I am not using to a happy new home.

😊

I went the quick way and just cut the "Arianna Lace" image from black card stock and put it behind an "Arianna Blooms" flower . It is stunning , I'll bet the "Arianna Lace" would be gorgeous in red with white "Arianna blooms" flowers for Valentines Day

Thanks so-o-o much !! I truly appreciate the chance to try them. I will let you know how they work for me.

UPDATE ON COLORBOX CHALK INK: I called Art at "Creative Play Stamps" today because he used to carry the full line of Color Box Fluid Chalk ink pads and refills. I asked him what was the status of getting The Colorbox Chalk inks and he told me he used to be able to get one or two of any color pad or refill he needed from his distributor now he has to put in a large order just for Colorbox Chalk ink to Clear Snap. It is not financially possible for a small store to meet those minimum order requirements. Also he said all the colors for the chalk ink are no longer available in refills .

Barbara, I have Versamagic chalk ink, and the company, Tsukineko, is no longer making refills for all of their colors either. I love the matte effects you get with chalk inks.

I don't think chalk inks are considered hybrid inks; they are blendable inks, but not hybrids. I'm not sure of the formula, but chalk inks are dye inks with an additional ingredient, such as calcium carbonate (which you use to make your own chalk paint) or something similar.

Hybrids are a cross between dye and pigment inks; they give you better coverage than regular dye inks, but dry quicker than pigment inks. I have some of the Palette Hybrid inks by Stewart Superior and I love them. An image stamped with hybrid ink looks similar to one stamped with dye ink, but the color is more saturated.

Here is some information I found that may be of help:

In Touch: Ink Pad Comparisons - Let's Get Inky and Explore! by Ellen Hutson

ETA: I just looked up Fun Stampers Journey because I hadn't heard of them. Their inks aren't chalk inks; they are a hybrid, and I'm assuming here, similar to the Palette Hybrid inks. And fairly expensive at $14 for inkpad/refill. If you want hybrid pads, My Favorite Things has gorgeous colors AND all the refills, and would save you $4 on the inkpad/refill.

Hero Arts has a chalk ink . Has anyone used it and did you like it ? Does it work as well as VersaMagic or Colorbox chalk ink?
Thanks
Barbara

Barbara, I just found that ColorBox Fluid Chalk Ink has a large selection of chalk ink pads but only one reinker. I am tempted to snag some of them without reinkers because I have some of these ink pads that are close to 10 years old and have not needed inking.

I have never ordered from this site so do not have a recommendation.

Hi Barbara,

The FSJ inks aren't chalk ink, they work and look just like other non-chalk pads. What I like about FSJ is that the colors are so vibrant and they stamp fabulously! I really like them better than other companies I've used. The Black Licorice is truly my favorite black ink ever! One of the reasons I left SU! and joined FSJ is because of the ink and the colors... ...
