Default Question For Expressions Users

I am wanting to hear from those who have purchased and used both Sir Cuts A Lot and the Cricut Design Studio software. Which is the better product?????

I would like to know also. The free download for SCAL popped up three screens made me dizzy.

I can't help on SCAL. I looked at it ages ago when I was debating between it and the Design Studio. The DS was more what I wanted, so I opted to go that route. I can honestly say I don't use my cricut without it. Since I got Design Studio last year for Mother's Day, I don't type a single thing into my keypad, or have to figure out how much room a cut is going to take. I lay it all out in the software, often days before I get it cut. I can weld, tweak and adjust and then when it's perfect, I can load the paper only in the area of the cut, load the paper and click cut.

There is no way I could have done a title like this without it -

There's three different sizes of the Alphalicious cartridge all welded together and then backed with a matching shadow. Need I say I love my Design Studio? :O)

Hello! I had to chime in here I love the SCAL - I sold all my carts but one because the machine needs one to work with. I download free svg files, 10000's of fonts and have bought some svg files too (myscrapchick.com is my favorite).

I also found almost all the images from ALL cartridges online in svg format to cut with my SCAL without needing the cartridges

I have both full versions of the software but I use SCAL alot more

Default Both

I have both the studio and SCAL. I use both. I have carts and like to use the studio with it but it is very limited. With the SCAL I have gotten jpegs and used Ink Scape to convert them into graphics SCAL can handle. A bit of manipulation but it pays off. I am a teacher and have made some fantistic bulletin boards using my Cricut.

Most aren't free.. I have a lady who makes them for me as she is an inkscape pro! I pay her and I can share them as she shares them as well

I only have DSS and was considering SCAL but am still not sold on it - only reason is that I want to use the cricut more for images then for fonts and from what I can tell it takes a bit of time to convert images to somethign that the cricut can cut (time will vary depending on the image). having said that many do use SCAL but I just don't have the time to convert files all the time - I want to reach for an image, size it and cut it. maybe some day I'll take the plunge on SCAL but not right now. i haven't seen many free SCAL images (some yes but not a lot) so I'd love to find out where they are! Maybe that would convince me!

I know I did a search a while back but didnt' find much.
