Question do you think I can sell my red sizzix at a garage sale?
I have my trusty red sizzix machine and three new replacement pads. I loved that machine but of course I now have the big shot for embossing. Do you seriously think I could get anything for it and what do you think I should ask? Did I mention that I really loved that machine?
why not keep it? its a great machine and you can still use it now and then.
do you teach classes? if so then you can have both out to save time.
i have the Slice, cuttlebug and i just ordered the Texture Boutique. all have their special uses and i wouldnt give either of them up! i also have tons of punches i thought about seling, but they are great for a quick need, so decided to keep!
I am just watching an auction on ebay for a red sizzix, tote, a dozen dies plus the adapter going right now for 200.00 plus shipping. I don't have the tote and only about 8 assorted dies but I do have three replacement pads. I am thinking of just trying to list it. If I can get more than 40.00 for it all I would be happy.
I just have the worst luck with selling on ebay so I am thinking is it worth it really. I havent tried to see if a club in town would use it, I would happily donate it if I knew they would appreciate and use it.
I would mark the price what you really want for it at your garage sale because you never know who may be stopping by. I was at a garage sale a few years ago and, amidst tables full of clothes and junk, she was selling her Xyron machine and refills. Got a great deal on the whole lot for a friend's birthday gift. If it doesn't sell, then try ebay.

If you decide to Ebay it, make sure you weigh it before listing. That thing weighs a ton, and it will be $$ to ship--I don't think it will fit in one of the Flat Rate boxes.
A year ago I sold my original red without anything special for $25 on ebay. I shipped in the bigger priority box and everything was fine. Then I sold my cuttlebug for $35 on ebay with extra plates and shipped it in the bigger priority box. Made me feel better about buying the big shot! And Lord I hope I don't feel the need to buy another die cut machine. If you just want it out of your room, advertise on craigslist or do the yard sale and be free of it, if you want money you might get lucky on ebay.
Good Luck!
Kathy
I see many people getting rid of their old red ones in exchange for big shots and cricut types. I would decide what you really want for it. If you really don't want it and don't want to just toss it out, you might think about giving it to one of the local schools. Perhaps find an art teacher at an elementary school who would enjoy it.
I keep a red one to do embossing (those larger size folders) and my nestabilities.
Perhaps you have a crafting friend who would pay you for it.
That was my question too. Except with mine, neither the few dies nor the Sizzix has been out of the packaging. I bought it and then discovered that I wouldn't be allowed to take it to work to use as I wanted to do. I'm considering donating it to my daughter's daycare provider or the homeless shelter to take it off my taxes.
Lorri, you could wait and sell it at Victoria's garage sale or you can list it in the numerous local craft groups on Facebook - just a thought...there has been a couple of craft facebook groups in Nanaimo/Ladysmith that have a ton of people that belong to it and I'm sure that you could make some money on there. If not what about donating it to one of the Boys and Girls clubs...they are forever making craft projects! Ask me...I know! I have projects hung all over my fridge ;)
If it's not about the money I know mine went to our church childrens ministry. They do projects for VBS and Sunday School etc...There a lot of places you can donate it to. Oh, also, senior day cares. Good luck with what ever you decide
I love the old red sizzix. I have 4 in my classroom. They are the best for cutting chip board and you don't need to keep buying the plates. I do own a big shot and I did just buy a big kick for school, I bought the big kick because it is what Joann's carries. It was 40% off and I got 15 more % off with my teacher discount

Do you know if they give discounts to home schooling moms or not?
Hi Lori,
I recently sold my old Sizzix on Craigs List for $20.00 plus shipping.
I found that I could ship it in the Medium Flat Rate Box for $10.35
The lady that bought mine was glad to pay the shipping, it was cheaper than her time & gas to come and get it. She bought mine for her girl scout troop. Good Luck.
Could you try and sell on the B/S forum here on SCS?? I would donate to a school, or Girl Scout troop, if not selling. I still have mine and use it often.
I still use my old red sizzix everyday. But I have been thinking about getting the Big Shot because it can handle larger dies and embossing folders sideways. If and when I do convert, I will donate "old red" to the elementary school along with my dies. Sure, I wouldn't get any money for it, but I figure I've got my money's worth out of what I paid for it 10 years ago and I would feel good knowing that it was encouraging kids to get creative. And it's a tax write-off.

How do you get the Teacher discount? Do you just take in your work ID?
