Default QK revolution

ok I'm so confused with all these diecutting machines, can you use QK revolution dies in a CB or big shot? I just looked at the revolution ans is it any bigger than the normal die cutting machines. I have been on the fence about a cricut but I can't really afford one right now and I like the look of the QK alphabets more. Help!

I use my QK dies (2x2, 4x4 and now 12" border dies) in my Cuttlebug all the time -- I don't have the Revolution 'cause it will only cut QK dies. I love that my CB will use ALL of my dies -- QK, Sizzix, Ellison, Nestabilities, etc.

Yup! If you're getting a die cutting machine, get the Cuttlebug! It cuts dies from ALL companies - quickutz, sizzix, spellbinders, etc.. Whereas the Revolution only cuts its own dies. Their embossing dies also cost ALOT more than CB embossing folders..

I use my Quickutz dies in my Bug all the time.. in fact i have more QK dies than Bug dies! So don't worry if you prefer the QK dies. You can use them wit the Bug.

The Revolution is alot smaller and lighter than the Bug actually. It's the case that it comes in that is bigger than the Bug.

These great video tutorials by Christine would give you a better idea fo the Bug:

The Cuttlebug

how it works with dies from other companies (quickutz, etc):

Enjoy!

Btw, the Cuttlebug is selling at creativexpress for only $35 now (shipping is an additional $10). http://www.creativexpress.com/shop/p...6&cat=0&page=1

Quickutz dies go on discount most of the time at http://www.scrapbookexpress.com/

You can use all dies in the Big Shot too. It takes up more space than the Cuttlebug though and costs more. If you buy the Bug on offer, you can used the money "saved" to buy more dies! Yaye!!!

I have a Revolution and I really love it.

First, you can use any wafer thin die in the Revolution, including Nestabilities.

I like that the Revolution has a magnetic base, so the dies don't move around. I also like that I don't have to do any funky mat sandwiches with it when I cut. Also, I like the Quickutz dies and rarely buy from another brand. But that's just me.

You can usually find a good price on any QK item at Scrapbuggy.com.

Technically you can, however, I found any of my Revolution dies that had detailing in the middle of the die, wouldn't cut. I ended up getting a Revolution and love it. I use it way more than my bug and now have an extensive collection of alphabets and dies. Plus, with the new 12" dies coming out, can't wait to get the extension! The Revolution is on sale at a lot of places and I love it!!

Hello:

So have you used the new 12 inch Quickutz border dies in your Cuttlebug? What kind of adapter do you need? I have the long Sizzix cutting mat thing - will that work with the longer Quickutz dies?

Thanks for the info.

I have both, and I keep saying that I will sell the Revolution because the CB can use all different kinds of dies but I can't seem to give it up. I love the magnetized base of the Revolution that holds the dies so well. I have a bunch of QK dies so when I am using those I pull out the Revolution. I had to have the CB because of the large embossing folders and the compatibility with other dies. It would have been terrific if someone had taken the best of both and put them together, sigh!

I have both as well, and always use my Revolution over the Cuttlebug. I use my QK dies the most. I use my Cuttlebug for Embossing, and cutting chipboard or grungeboard.

Can you use the Revolution with the Cuttlebug embossing folders? I also have the Sizzix Big Kick, can I use the embossing folders in that?
I hope I won't have to buy the Cuttlebug just to use the embossing folders from them.
Thanks!

The Revolution basically takes Quickutz dies and possibly the Spellbinders. You can't use anything Cuttlebug with it. I do not own a Big Kick, so I do not know that answer.

I don't own a Bigkick but I found another thread which discussed using the BigKick with Cuttlebug embossing folders. It seems like you'll need a multipurpose platform.

Here's a quote:
"Cuttlebug embossing folders work great in the Big Kick!

You need the multi purpose platform open at Tab 1. Then place a clear pad, then the embossing folder with CS sandwiched inside, then another clear pad - roll through - and then be thrilled at the great embossed effect LOL!"

You can view the entire thread at:

Post Manual die cut machines vs. Cricut

Okay ladies, I'm a little late getting in on the conversation, but... here is my opinion. If I could start over, I would buy the Cuddle Bug and the Cricut. I have an old sizzix, the QK squeeze, Bigshot, Cuddle Bug, sidekick, Wizard and finally the cricut. Honestly, I rarely use my Wizard. I agree with all of you ladies about the Cuddle Bug being so convenient and versatile. That would be my TOP PICK for the manual machine. Although being that I do have alot of thin cuts, sizzlits and QK the sidekick is a handy dandy lil' machine too. But as for the QK Alphabets..... Good Lord have mercy... they are soo... expensive. I try my best not to buy alphabets anymore because of the alphabets that cricut offers. There are alot of nice ones in the many different cats available, ya know? Although I do agree at the same time that some alpha's are just to cute not to get. Well, that's my 2 cents. Hope this helps a bit. Good Luck! ;)

I am really late getting into this converstation but wanted to add...

CB dies do work in the revolution with a bit of change. I found that if you use a thinner cutting mat it works well. I am using a pieces of an old fiskars cutting mat that had been cut on so many times it was no longer good for normal use. I cut the mat into squares and they work as a cutting mat for the CB dies.

What do you do to use the Nestabilities? I have the Revolution, but do not want to break it. I also have the original sizzix and cannot figure out what to stack to make it cut...

Thanks!
