Default pulled off matting after using ATG gun

I have the ATG 714 and I had made a card using it. I realized I had forgot one of my matting pieces of cardstock. I EASILY pulled off the image 1 hour later.

?????

(YUP, I'm using the right tape)

What do you think is up?? I live in a dry area; no humidity here. So that can't be it. Any ideas?

You can pull it up if you don't push it down firmly. I've been using ATG for about 7 years and this is one of the things I love about it. The more pressure on it, the stickier it gets. That's why frame shops use it. The pressure the glass and backing apply to the mats in the frame help secure it.

As long as you give it a nice firm rub over it should be fine.

Yeah, I have the ATG and have been able to pull my project apart when I've made a mistake and needed to fix it. But, if I apply too much pressure, forget it, IT IS stuck. I love my ATG. The adhesive is great and I recommend it, but it is just adhesive. It's not magic.

Yes, I will try more pressure. Perhaps that is it. I was not unhappy I got to pull it apart. I fixed the card. Just surprised, as I had heard once you adhered the cardstock, that baby was stuck!

I have had that happen to me also. One trick I have used is to use a blow dryer on low to heat it up a bit and then it will come apart without ripping, as long as I am careful. I am now careful to lightly lay things down until I am sure it is properly positioned. When I am sure all is good, then I firmly press it down. Works for me!

You can pull it off unless you apply some pressure to the layer to bond the tape and layers. That is why when I am done a card I give it a once over going over all my taped layers with my hand to make sure they are firmly together.

I used dental floss under the pictures and paper to take it apart. My dentist would not appreciate it, but it worked really well!

I actually like that I can reposition a piece if I need to but once its set, that's it. Also, I have better results with the regular ATG instead of the more expensive gold. The gold is acid free, but unless I'm scrapbooking, I'm not that concerned with the acid free. For me, the gold seems to be too stringy and may wrap around the wheel.

After you do get the layers apart, if you take your thumb and push it against the edge of the tape. It will roll up. I do this when I put the tape in the wrong place or paper sticks to the tape when you pull it apart. Works for me.
