I read in a scrapbooking magazine that one can get pens that as the ink dries it puffs up. Does anyone have any info about brands or anything?

I have the whole set of the souffle pens and LOVE them. It gives a soft embossed look. It's definetly raised to the touch but not as much as embossing powders (I hope that makes sense).
I also have the Puffy Velvet fabric markers. These are awesome for dimension! I've used them on animals images, such as dogs, as it's turned out super cute! ANd I've also used it for frosting on cakes and cupcakes, also super cute! I do leave mine sit overnight and then heat with my heat gun the next morning. This product is alot like Liquid Applique (which you also leave sit overnight and heat the following day although you don't HAVE to!)except this is in a marker application form. One thing I like to do with my "frosting" is add some glitter to it before I heat set it. It turns out really pretty and makes nice yummy sparkly frosting! =)
I hope this helps! They both are products that I would recommend that you try! Maybe just buying one pen of each! I know that Souffle pens come in sets of 3 or more and the Puffy Velvet Markers are sold seperatly or in sets also!

I have the souffles and they look great on transparencies but they don't really puff up that much. I like bolder colors and the souffles are pastel. I also have the glaze pens and they are wonderful.
I just did some research on the Puffy Velvets - several websites say not to touch or handle the "puff" once it's been heat set or else it will flatten.
I'd rather stick with my Sakura "glaze" or "souffle" pens.

It doesn't flatten if you touch it, unless you smoosh it! LOL! I just think they don't want you to rub it!
I had to order them from their catalog. My Mike's doesn't carry them, not sure if some would or not. Maybe try a google search on them and you'd have better luck finding a place to purchase them. HTH!

Where can I find the Puffy Velvets? In Mikes, etc? I've never seen theme. Maybe I should check the "t-shirt decoration" section??
Joann's carries them in the t-shirt decoration area. Good call! My Joanns doens't carry them seperately so I bought the primary set of 6 (Black, white, blue, red, green yellow). THey are normally around $20.00 for the set but I used my coupon for them.

Maybe I'll have to look there for some additional colors! Thanks for the heads up!:-D
