Default Printing on transparency?

Hi all,

Does anyone know if a HP inkjet will print onto transparency? Before I go out and buy some to try, just thought I'd ask here. I'm wondering if it dries OK, or if it smudges while printing. I've printed on vellum with no problem, but transparency is so much slicker.

Thanks for any help!!

I have the same question. I am using a Canon printer, and wonder if anyone has experience with the Pixma MP500. I heard some women in my lss talking about changing settings in Word, in order to print on transparencies, but I did not ask them about the details. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks for your help!

I have an HP printer and what I do is go to preferences and then to paper quality. When you scroll down you should come to transparency or other transparency. Just play with it, I'm sure you'll figure it out. Hey, I'm not that computer literate and I was able to work it out. Hope this helps!

I have printed on transparencies from an HP inkjet with no problems. I always use HP ink, I have heard of problems with some cheaper refill type inks.

Default Thanks

Thanks for all the help. I'm glad to hear that HP will print on transparency with little problem. I do have the HP inks so I will give it a try.

I think you have to get the transparancies that say for inkjet on them. I made some awesome cards this weekend with the transparancies and stamped black flourishes on them over patterend paper...So beautiful.
Blessings.

Default Be careful!

Printing on transparencies with an inkjet printer! The color is NOT fast. It will smear and run if it gets wet.

Take it from a teacher with a lot of smeared maps!

You could print it on the transparancy and turn the ink to the bottom and it wouldn't be touched. I've printed on them but haven't used them for cards.

If you buy the special transparencies for inkjet, they are a bit more expensive but one side is textured to hold the ink. If you want the glossy side up, for effect, you can always mirror the image and print it, and then when you lay it upside down you'll have the glossy side on top and the image/text the right way. A cheaper alternative if all you want is black, is to get photocopy transparencies, print your image onto white paper and photocopy that onto the transparencies. I don't think I would like to try printing onto a non-inkjet specific transparency - I have a friend who tried and the ink was still wet 3 days later, LOL.
