I am looking for some recommendations for a printer to print digital scrapbook paper. I have a color laser printer, but the print comes out shiny and that's not really the look I'm going for when I'm printing patterned paper.

I would welcome a discussion about printers. What are people using it for, type/brand, pros and cons. I'm ready to invest in something new.
The Ecotank printer is expensive, but Epson says you will recoup your money when you don't have to purchase ink anywhere near as often.
I heard they are complicated to set up.
I love my Epson ET 8550. It will print 13 x 19 inch paper and is an Eco-Tank (no cartridges). I bought Hammermill 13 x 19 paper 100# and 32#
I recently purchased the smaller Eco-Tank printer ET-2800. I had a very large Canon color laser printer. It was great for things to be foiled with a laminating machine but made horrible colored prints. I finally decided to get the smaller Eco-Tank printer and I am so glad that I did! It makes beautiful prints! It is not the fastest printer that I have ever had but it is just a little slower than the laser printer. I definitely recommend the
ET-2800!
In the olden days (LOL) the recommendation was always use ink rather than laser printers for scrapbooks because over time the plastic layer made by laser printers will attach itself to anything it touches. For reference, look through any old binders you have with page protectors and see this yourself! I shudder to think of this happening to a valued photograph.
I currently use a Cannon because the ink refills are hundreds of dollars cheaper than other brands. It has it’s issues (difficult initial setup, often slow - and keep the user guide handy) but I printed over 5,000 pages with the starter inks and large refills that came with purchase. Granted many of these prints were B&W but (like most electronics) you cannot print at all if ANY of the ink tanks are low.

for 12 by 12 or larger prints I love my ET 8550. The ET8550 had step by step instructions and there are also videos on YT that walk you through it. It is pricey but all large format printers are. I've had it for most of the year and ,u tanks are more than half full. The prints are gorgeous.
