Default Need ideas to "flatten" out my card stock

Ok, got the BRILLIANT idea of heat embossing my Christmas cards this year....all three layers.... But the first layer (the actual card) is warped.

My question is, is there any way I can smooth the cardstock out? Right now I have some weights on them but am wondering if it's a lost cause for these guys. I tried keeping the embossing gun six inches away but apparently I can't measure well, b/c the paper warped anyway.

Thanks for any tips you may have to share.

Kim

Do you mean heat embossing? I have found if I have warped paper from that, glueing it down to a flat piece of quality cs works fine...I use Mono Multi and it holds like crazy. HTH!

Yes, I'm sorry, it was heat embossing - I've edited my first post to be a bit clearer. I embossed the front cover of my card that I'm going to add the layers on...that's what got warped and that's why I'm trying to salvage it. Just not sure if pressing it down with weights is going to help.

some times the cardstock will relax and go flat on its own a few days later... but if you used something like coversheet weight (thin cardstock) it may not...
just a thought, Ive had things look pretty bad right after then the next day they look OK. but then i tend to glue them to something else that was not heated too...

If you have not done them all yet - try evenly heating the whole piece when you emboss - it should distribute the heat more evenly and if it does warp try heating on the back side too. It happens because when you heat emboss you actually dry out the paper - moisture is removed from where you heat and then the paper shrinks in that spot. SO theoretically if you did it all over or on the back it should help to even it out.

My demo said if you heat the back side of the paper it will flatten back out. I have not done it after the fact, but I know it works well while you are embossing. Hope it works.

I made 80 or so thank you notes for my wedding using a very thin layer of cardstock with some heat embossing (simple but pretty- my first foray into stamping!) Ok, back on topic.
My point is that not only did the paper get all warped, it was discolored too! However, after I glued it down to the card and let it rest, not only did it go flat the colors all returned to normal. So I also recommend giving it some time
