Default Mini Craft Irons

Does anyone have a mini craft iron? How hot do they get? What kind of surface do you use them on?

I like to do melted crayon backgrounds but hate dragging out my big iron to do it. I'd like something small, portable and within reach at my craft table.

Tell me what you all know about them!

TIA!

I have the mini iron from Heidi Swapp. I love it! I haven't used it for the melted crayon technique yet but it will be perfect for it. It has a smooth (no holes) teflon surface and it gets extremely hot. I used it just this weekend when I was hemming my son's uniform pants, and it was hot enough with no moisture, to nicely press up the hem. I would definitely recommend it.

I think about getting one a lot for ribbon. Lots of mine is kinked up. Sounds like it would be useful for many things.

If you have a curling iron, you've got a 'ribbon iron.' Pull the ribbon through the blades. If there's a temp control on it, use low for nylon, polyester and rayon ribbons.

I have a little Heidi Swapp type iron too.......I think mine might be Darcie brand. Love it. Use it to do Batik type techniques where you iron off the EP to typeing paper. Heats up fast, small, easily stored. Haven't tried it on crayons yet.

Hi Jen, I have a small craft iron that I got from Hot Potatoes.com. It is really great. I use it for stamping on velvet.

The small Heidi swapp iron is ok.. it doesn't get hot hot... It's great for the crayon tech.. BUT... the cord wants to come off of the iron when you use it... I think a different connector would have been better but other than that, the iron is ok.

I want to get one of those ribbon irons from Pebbles but I can't justify it.. I guess that's what I'll ask for at Christmas.
