that the women (and men) that frequent this board have to be among the most collaborative and kind group on any bulletin board anywhere. I've visited other boards (non-related to crafting) and the catty negativity I've seen is shameful. I recently made my first post, an inquiry on a well known commerce board and was scolded for using an abbreviation that one person (yes, one person), didn't know. I apologized for my misstep, but that was and will be my one an only post.
Just want to say thank you for all the good advice, kind words, support, encouragement and ideas that you all share in the spirit of fostering crafting, imagination and good will. It keeps me coming back, though not always as often as I'd like. Kind of like a binge.
I agree about the helpful, generous, kind responses anyone will receive here when they post a request/question. Everyone is so encouraging. No one need feel intimidated by the skill of the crafters here because the newbie/expert alike know how to 'share'.
THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR MAKING THIS SITE SO WELCOMING!
I totally agree with the comments above. Its nice to know you can go somewhere for a bit of help and not feel like an idiot for asking. Love all the sharing and suggestions, keeps me coming back. Thanks all

On top of all the helpfulness, kindness, and positive atmosphere here, there are kind people conducting RAK's.
I been the recipient of 5 pkgs. of two retired in-colors, matching markers, and two ink pads from one person, an embossing folder from another and an awesome SU stamp set from yet another wonderful and thoughtful person.

I completely agree!!!!!!! It is a wonderful feeling to spend time on this site and be inspired, encouraged and loved (I do not think all the kindness shown is possible without love).
I have sent and received RAKs, made many friends ... some I get to visit in person when possible, and feel connected to them in between.
I have been inspired to try new things whether it is a different fold or color combination or ... whatever. I rarely visit other similar sites (usually only if a link from here or from a blog led me to one).
So thanks to ALL the wonderful people that make this site feel like another home.
When I found SCS I immediately felt accepted. Such a warm, generous community here at my fingertips. Everyone has been a boost to my spirit and I can visit anytime!
Why can't the world be more like US?
100% agree with everything that's been said! Fantastic community, whether you live in the USA or not. So many kind, helpful people and everyone is so friendly. SCS'ers are the best!
I totally agree with everything stated above. I don't post or follow as much as I used to (family situation) but every time I have a problem, question or want an idea, this is my first "go to" web site
Yes. I am always so amazed at the wonderful help I get on this site. People are so generous with their time to read posts and respond, as well as answer private emails. I have learned so much on this site. AND IT IS ALL FREE. I don't have to sign up for the expensive classes that stores offer, and they are EXPENSIVE. I never would have gotten so deeply into stamping if it were not for this site. (I am not so sure my husband would be thankful!)
I agree with everything you've all said. I don't have a blog (and don't want one as I don't want to spend that much time on the computer) so SCS is the only place I post my cards. It gives me a great visual record of what I've made. Not to mention everything I've learned from the tutorials, the forums, and seeing the cards made by others!

I too like the tutorials. I am still learning my way around the whole site but I absolutely read these posts on the weekly!
The only regret I have about SCS is I didn't know about it sooner!
I think the crafting community as a whole is just really nice...at shows, at my LSS, sellers on Ebay...just everywhere I go, crafters are always nice, generous, non-judgmental people. SCS is a huge example of that!
I think I've been a member of Splitcoast for about 10 years and it is my absolute, go-to place on the internet, after checking my email and looking up info on Google. I can't count how many fellow crafters I have introduced to this wonderful, sharing, supportive site. And I think 90% of what I know about papercrafting I have learned here! I heart Splitcoast!

I couldn't agree more with everything that has been said here. I too have seen negativity, cattiness and downright mean people on other similar forums and I can say with all honesty that I have never seen anything like that here. The atmosphere is always warm and inviting and this really is a great place to come and learn new things. The fact that people share their knowledge freely and without expecting something in return makes coming here worth it! Thanks to everyone who ever answered a question I might have had and I look forward to sharing ideas and projects with you for many, many years!

I have learned so much from all the helpful people on SCS. It is quite wonderful. Thanks to whomever started this site and to all who reply to my questions and problems.

I tell anyone who has any interest in stamping about SCS. Without the input from this site, I'm sure I wouldn't still be enjoying this art form. "They" always are coming up with something new and/or different to keep the level of interest up. And the 'they' I refer to is absolutely everybody who's ever submitted a picture of a card they've made or offered a comment (especially of encouragement) for someone. SCS plus the blogs I'm introduced to through SCS fill my days, for which I'm very thankful. Enough credit could not be heaped upon the generous souls who are SCS.
And let's not forget all the wonderful people "behind the scenes" at SCS who make this wonderful world all possible. If it wasn't for them we'd never get the chance to share and learn as we now do!

Not only do I feel accepted, encouraged and taught, I feel praised! This from people I don't even know and all over the world!!! Wouldn't it be great if governments could get along this way?
I agree wholeheartedly! I've been familiar to this website thanks to my former SU demonstrator, but I've only recently been posting. Everyone on this site that I've been in contact with so far are kind, considerate and really knowledgeable. I've found so many answers to my question here and every day I find out something new!
