It is a little hard to use if you are using it as a hand-held thing. I bought the desk top holder thing for like $8 and it makes it much easier to use, you push down on it with both hands. My friend has one of the new pink handles and it is much easier to squeeze.

Yes the new ones (black or pink) are much easier to use than the old (blue one) that I have. But both are easier to use with the little stand & hand pad. I always use it with those on the table. I do like the dies, but they can get a little expensive. There are a couple websites that sell most of them at 30% off.
I have the pink one. I got it with a special they had you got the handle and the Olivia font alphabet with it. I have since got some other dies and I love it. I use it quite often.

I have the Sizzix and the Black handled quickutz. I use the quicckuts for the alphas and small dies... its great-- and the Sizzix for bigger dies. I love it too..
I also have the table stand for the quickutz and it is very easy to use. Not as much strain on the hands.
I have the Sizzix and the Quickutz and both have their good points and bad points.
The good point about the Quickutz is it is really portable and easy to store away, bad point is it can be quite difficult or painful to use if you have a lot to cut out. Also, disadvantage is you can only use quickutz dies in a quickutz machine.
Good point of Sizzix is that I can use any die except the new Ellison ones in the Sizzix with the right convertor. Bad point is it is very heavy, so unless you have the space to give it an assigned spot, it is a pain to keep getting out and putting away. HTH.
here's what i do. I have a sizzix and i use 3 of the white sizzix boards with my quickutz dies in the sizzix machine. that way i only have to have one die cutting machine. it works well. but keep in mind that using your QK dies with the sizzix machine voids the QK warranty.

If you'd like to use quickutz dies in the sizzix machine or in the sidekick--sizzix now sells like black adaptors. They come like 10 in a package for an inexpensive price. I bet you could see them on the sizzix.com (I got mine at Archivers). It is (to me) unbelievable how well the quickutz dies "cut" paper. The diecuts come out so cleanly. I have the quickutz ornament die, the little purse, tiny tags . . . and the stilleto alphabet. Really tiny and it cuts beautifully.
I think that perhaps the sidekick does a little bit better job than the sizzix--but both work well and can be used with the little, black sizzix brand adaptors.
I guess I'm somewhat addicted to diecutting systems because beside the sizzix and the sidekick, I just got a Wizard
I have the Accucut ZipeMate machine. I can use Quickutz, Boss Kut, Sizzix, Sizzlits, Accucut slim dies, and standard dies! All I had to do was purchase the different platforms and cutting mats (~$20-25). So, it really doesn't matter which die I have I know I can use it in my Zipemate. It's pretty lightweight too.
I have the blue QK with the adapter pad (to make the handle larger) and use both hands and my desk for cutting the dies. I like it.
But had I not received it and several hundred $$ worth of dies for free, I definately would not have bought it.
I think that any die cutting machine is not worth the $. I am never going to make enough die cuts to make it worth the $. I'm never going to break even.

I love my diecutting machines. My favorite and most used dies are the tags, the label holders, the little cards and envelopes . . . they get used nearly everytime I stamp (maybe it's because I'm so in love with tags).
But, I don't apply the "break even" rule to any of my crafting or card making

I have the Zipemate too and love it. It's so much easier than the Quikutz handle. So now I just buy the quickutz dies but use the zipemate. It's only a little more than the quickutz handle and takes all the others dies too.

do you have to purchase any special platform or cutting mat to be able to use the Quickutz die w/the Zipemate?? i'm thinking about getting the Zipemate as well since my QK handle is so hard to use. TIA
