I'm having an awful time trying to get this stamp to show the complete image. I have put a ring border on it and 2 letters + 2 numbers. I can't get the ring to completely stamp.
I just got mine last week. I tried using the wooden block that my formal alphabet came with on blue bayou ink pad, and it was not the best. I then used the self inking stamper with the black in that it came with, on PTI white, and they were perfect. I did read on their website that if you are adding your own ink to the ink pad, that you need to let it sit for 2 hours to let the ink saturate the pad. My friend has one also, and says that more ink is better. HTH!!
I noticed too that if the letters /ring aren't seated really well in the grooves (of the wooden handle, or the self inking thing) you won't get a good image. Took lots of practice and inky fingers, but I finally was able to get consistent stamping!
Hmmm- maybe the ink is the issue. This is the first time I am using it so it isn't my ink.
I'm just bummed! I hope it gets better. The whole unit is so lightweight and I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but my images are icky....
I had to stamp mine several times before it seemed to pick up the ink and I still rub the back of the stamp a bit (you know where that gap is) to make sure - I got my stamping pad out to try with that - I will try to remember to let you know.
Try using a stamp mat or mouse pad under your image. The JustRite stamps do not have a foam cushion like traditional wooden stamps and a cushion helps provide enough "give" to get a clear impression. Hope that helps.
I have both the stamper thing and the wooden block. for the stamper thing (sorry I can't remember the real name) I get a perfect image. but I stand up when doing it.
For the wooden block, I check the block before stamping to make sure there is good ink coverage. Sometimes there is not, especially if I am using an SU ink pad (sag in middle!). So I add ink with a marker or switch to a Palette or other non sagging ink pad. Then, I'm happy.
I hope this helps.

 I ordered the expensive kit and add ons to it only to have the same thing happen. I cannot for the life of me get the image to imprint evenly. I am frustrated that I spent all that money for what I expected to be a quality item and have it do this.:(
I feel for those of you having trouble with your justrite stampers. I do not have the self-inking model . . . only the sets with wooden handles. I really feel like this is the way to go.
However, I watched Taylor V. video on her blog and noted that when she stamped with the self-inking mechanism, she did a little "rocking" when the stamp was meeting the paper. I would imagine, tho, that that will take some practice. Enough rocking to get a clear image--yet not so much as to get smudges around the edges.
When stamping with the wood mounts, I end up practicing a bit before I work on my project. Depending on the type of ink I'm using, the surface I'm stamping on and the position of the stars, I've had to alter the cushioning underneath. Sometimes more works better. Sometimes the flat surface seems better!
We monogrammed the cover of my daughter's wedding programs last week. I was very happy when my daughter agreed to layering the monogram on a simple circle (she kinda wanted them directly onto the cover). That way, I was only discarding simple bits of paper and not expensive printed programs!!
Because of the results and the "look," I'm willing to give this effort to this stamp system.
Oh, yes!! The wood mount accepts the borders and the letters/numbers. As far as I know, you have to purchase one of the accessory kits (like the curlz font and borders OR the special occasions font & borders) in order to obtain the wood mount.
I have used my Versamagic inks on it and those work much better than the dye inks from Stampin' Up. Much cleaner, crisp image. I think it is the cheapy rubber because mine feels sort of stiff and the ink pool up on the slick surface of the letters so I treat it as I would a clear stamp and use the chalk or pigment inks.

We are currently doing some ink compatibility testing. If anyone has results they would like to share we'd love to hear from you. You can PM me or email Customer Service on our web site.
UGH... I hope I have an easier time. But I am sure it will take practise.
I wish I'd have read this ten minutes ago. But all the DT reviews say how easy and wonderful it is.
hmmmmmmmmmmm
Maybe we should start a TIPS thread... if this happens, try this...
if that happens try that.... you know, for us beginners.
I love monograms so I am hoping this is worthwhile.
It's such a fantastic concept!

Ginger...
do you think the wooden one will be better?
Perhaps yours is faulty. I checked out dawn mcvey's blog and she praises JustRite it. She's very trustworthy! I am hoping it just takes practice or that you can get a new one and send the one not working back.
In every line of tools, cars, and everything else, occassionally there is a lemon, ya know?
Good luck!

Make sure the pieces are pressed in well, I just use my fingertip after I have everything in place. Also, stamp on a mousepad. I like to stamp my image on some scratch paper a couple of times to get it inked up real well. If that doesn't work, make sure your ink pad is in their properly (which it should be if the stamper is working). I just love mine so much and I hope you get yours working soon so you can have fun with it too!
