Default Issue w/ Vagabond 2. Wondering about others' experiences

I have a Vagabond 2 I bought new and have only used for a week or so. The doors, the "drawbridges", if you will, have loosened considerably. It cuts OK, but the platform looks like a see-saw.

I looked up some videos of the machine and I didn't see it happening with others.

Last night I measured the movement with a T-square and it's a full 1/2".

I called Sizzix and they were very nice and offered to replace my machine since they said it should NOT have that much play. They said they'd pick it up and everything, but I **really** don't want to give it up before the holidays.

I have plenty of time left in my warranty to ship it later.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue.

Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Any new news on your Vagabond? I just got mine and I am going to check if my platform is okay. Is it supposed to be completely flat? Should it be rigid?

The "doors" should lie pretty much completely flat when it's open. Mine are open all the time, I never put my Vagabond away. They are not rigid, the doors don't lock into place when you lower them, but they lie flat.

If yours don't, call them.

So after the holidays I requested to send my Vagabond 2 back, but Sizzix said they'd be out of stock for 2 months. ;(
It came from Amazon and they always blow me away with their customer service, so I explained the situation to them and they sent me a new one and a return lable. WOW!

I just got the new one. It also has play in the doors, but it doesn't do the see-saw bit. I'm going to compare them a bit before I return the first one, but I think the first one loosened somehow on use.

I'll report back after a bit of comparison.

Hi thank you both for responding! I got mine from Amazon (in Canada) too. I'm at work so can't see it in front of me. I don't have the seesaw...that I can imagine yours looked like but it isn't 180 degrees flat either...but on glance it's "flat". My doors have some play too...but maybe that's normal?

I would like to keep mine open too. I worry if I keep my platforms and plates on top of the doors for storage when not in use...will that loosen the doors more because of the weight? Rachelrose do you keep the platform and plates on the vagabond or somewhere else when not in use?

hwgang...please let us know how it goes with the new one. Do you feel it's different from the first one you got?

So I called Sizzix and they said my base should not bend down. She said that even if you push down on that base it shouldn't go down unless you are putting a lot of weight. So I am worried that over time it will loosen more and more like yours. So I think I will get it replaced by Amazon....I am still in the return period. Hopefully the second will be different.

Thanks for your help!

You misunderstood, I'm afraid. My base, even on my suspected problem unit, never went down. It went UP. There was about 1/2" of play in it on each side. As time went on, the play was more noticeable. They said it shouldn't do that, but I suspect it's part of the unit. I haven't yet had time to compare. I will let you know when I have.

Ok good to know. Thanks for clarifying. Mine is evenly bending on angle down on both sides. It's a slight angle....but enough to notice. Which I find effects the platform from going in straight so I often have to play with it a bit for it to go through properly. Its like because of the angle the platform is going in on a diagonal up....so it hits the rollers thinking it's too thick properly. It's a bit annoying. I first thought it was me...but I think it's because the base isn't flat. My CB which is a foldout.....the base or doors are very rigid. And it's 14 years old. Thank you again for letting me know.
