Default Impressabilities??

Anyone tried this product? I love the nestabilities from Spellbinders. Today at the JoAnns I saw a product called Impressabilities. Is this for embossing? is it just like the cuttlebug folders? (i.e. does it emboss as nicely). I only have an old sizzix that I use to cut the nestabilities.

Can I use the impressabilities with the rubber mat to emboss?

anyone tried it? anyone have samples? the metal plate looked really thin

Thanks

Holley

it is very thin, perhaps even thinner then an brass stencil to be used on a light box kind...
alas i have had no luck using one with an cuttlebug, my thoughts are maybe it works better if you have a spellbinders machine?

but, i think it would work great if you taped it cardstock and sprayed it with colored sprays...

I bought 1 and use it with my CB, but it is not a go to item for me......
I have heard of spraying your cardstock with water to get a better impression.

With the Cuttlebug folders you are basically embossing both sides of your paper (you have a negative and a postive image with the folders) which is why you get such a great impression. Using a brass stencil or the impressabilities you are only embossing one side of the paper (make any sense) so you don't get the deep impression like you do with the Cuttlebug folders. If you were to use only on side of the Cuttlebug folder you wouldn't get the same deep impression. At least that's the way I see it.

I just watched a YouTube video today with Impressionabilities. Kimberly Crawford demonstrated how to do letterpress cards with them. Very cool!

CrawfordKimberly...is what you need to type in the search feature to find her video.

I have a couple and have basically used them as stencils with the sprays or sponging.

Hope this helps.

I use them in my Cuttlebug with no problem. You just have to use your shim and rubber mat like you were embossing with your Nesties.

When they first came out last year I did two posts about them on my blog:

This one with my CB sandwich and this one with some tips.

Thanks, I found your comments helpful and esp the samples and images you gave Katestamps716

They are very tempting, but think I will hold off for now. A lot of the potential issues I saw with the product are things that people pointed out. Wish they would have made them a bit sturdier.

I think they were intentionally designed to be thin. When I saw them at CHA the were cutting them apart and doing all different things with them - things you couldn't do with a CB or Quickutz folder. They're similar products but not intended to be replacements.

I used it in my bigshot, my card is on my blog http://mylifemylovesmypassions.blogspot.com/

I don't think it embosses as deeply as the cuttlebug folders though.
