Default Gamsol in Canada

After much internet searching, phoning and running around, I found Gamsol in Canada. You will not find it under that name but as "Taltine". I bought it in Edmonton, Alberta at a store called Colors. I got a 75 ml bottle for 2.50. I was told you can also get it at a store called Delta Art. Look for any specialty art store in your area and you should be able to find it under our Canadian name. I've made a few cards with it, and I'm very pleased with the results. Hope that helps you out.

Colors has a website www.artistsupplies.com. I am not sure how their shipping policies work but that is where I found taltine as well. Good luck!

Default Canadian supplier - Opus

I wish we lived closer so that we could share a can!

It is available at the following site - 16 oz for $12.30 Canadian (I believe they will ship to you!):

https://store.opusframing.com/sagro/...l&product=8966

If you ever visit Vancouver, Opus has a store on Granville Island.

Does misterart.com ship to Canada? That's where I get mine. Good luck finding it, you'll be so glad you did. Don't forget to order the blending stumps too.

Go to an art supply store. You will generally not find it in a craft store. I don't know if they have Dick Blick in Canada, but that is where I got mine.

Watch out for the online stamp stores because they like to sell you 2-4oz for the same price as the 8oz container that would be found in an art supply store.

InkyAntics.com has it in a small bottle with an applicator, don't remember the cost but it will be great for refilling, purchased a 16 oz. from DickBlick.com for 6.95 I think.

Default Canadian source...

Here is a Canadian source based in Vancouver but I believe they will ship:

https://store.opusframing.com/sagro/...xact&x=14&y=10

It is $12.30 for 16 oz. and there is a 50% off shipping special in July.

http://www.opusframing.com/

(I just noticed that the shipping is darn expensive even with the 50% off!)

Hello ladies! I live in South Texas and I also had a hard time finding gamsol down here. I went to Hobby Lobby and Michael's and they didn't have a clue as to what the product was. I finally ordered mine through inky antics and should be getting sometime next week!

That's what I did. The one from DickBlick came real fast.

I agree. This isn't a craft product, per se. It is really one that artist's use. I found a huge tin at an art supply store.

I ordered mine over the Internet from inkyantics.com. Let your fingers do the shopping on your computer. Oops! Maybe they don't ship to Canada. Check it out, though. They have some cute stamps too!

www.inkyantics.com
The bottle is small but it lasts forever...I have had mine over six months with constant use and I have only used between a quarter to a third of the bottle. And I believe they ship to Canada and just charge actual cost.

I found it in quite an unlikely spot. I was in the paint department at Wal-Mart, looking for a different craft item ( ) when I noticed that they had odorless mineral spirits---at least I'm pretty sure that's what it was. I didn't get it, but I know I thought it was the same thing mentioned on here. It was a HUGE bottle for about $5.00. Maybe other home repair stores might have it, or paint stores.

No that is not the same. Gamblin Gamsol is VERY HIGH QUALITY odorless mineral spirits. It is among the best and cleanest OMS on the market. It makes a difference.

I got a large canister of odorless mineral spirits at Lowe's for around $5.00. I hear that Gamsol works great but since I have never used that brand the kind I got works great for me! And it's odorless mineral spirits, not thinner. HTH!

I believe Gamsol is a brand name... at Michaels look for the Mona Lisa Brand of Odourless Mineral Spirits.

Gamsol is the brand name and it is much better refined than the Mona Lisa, I tried that first....and it doesn't compare to the Gamsol.

Like Keri said,

It is the best! If you are going to invest the money in the prismacolor pencils and your time, invest in the Gamblin Gamsol. It works faster (in movement of the pencil color) and in the smoothness of the coverage. There is no lifting in your paper from any pressure you use.

Other grades of OMS can and do drag the color and will shred your paper and leave streaks.

Just my 2 cents worth.

I have used both odorless mineral spirits and gamsol and it's pretty hard to tell the difference. At least you could use the OMS to get started and then order the gamsol. You won't be dissapointed with either one. Enjoy!
