Hi!
Honestly, the Cricut Expression is a great deal. I ordered mine for $249, and 2 carts of my choice, from Custom Crops (free shipping). They have great deals, like $219 with 2 cartridges. I don't currently know what they are offering today. www.customcrops.com

I know there have been some issue with shipping times, and responses to phone calls or e-mails. I didn't have any problems with my order. My Expression arrived Monday and I finally got to play last night. What fun. The 12x12 mat is the best, no more cutting paper down, and I can set up more cuts at a time.

I have owned the smaller machine (the O-Bug) for a year and I found it limiting, even with Design Studio. DH suprised me with the "E" because I used the little one so much. When he saw the info-mercial and really saw the difference, he had me order the machine. I'd been grumbling a bit about what I couldn't do, and how I was "making do".

The best deals are likely on-line at this point. Good luck

If he can find the Expression in his price range, I'd go for that. I have seen them at Walmart for $284 (in Virginia) but I don't know if that's everywhere. If so, then he doesn't have to worry about it getting here before Christmas. The ones at Walmart also come with 2 free cartridges.

I had the original Cricut but wanted to cut larger sizes and do more with the things the Expression offers.

I ordered one yesterday from Custom Crops for 229 with both standard carts. You can get one for 199 with no carts and 219 with one cart of choice. All had free shipping. Happy Shopping!

The differences are:

The Expression can cut 12x12 paper (12x24 with optional mat) but the regular Cricut only takes 6x12 paper.

The Ex will cut either Portait or Landscape across the paper, the Reg only goes one way.

The Ex can be centered over an object or photo to cut around it, the Reg does not have this feature.

The Ex can cut as small as 1/4"...the Reg will not.

There are a few more features that the Expression has, however I don't use them so I can't list them off the top of my head.

I had the Regular Cricut a while back and did not like having to cut my 12x12 CS in half before using it...that was the biggest thing for me.

Cher listed all of the differences above. I have the baby bug right now and would love to upgrade to an "E". I would get an "E" if I had to choose because it has so many other features. At custom crops, they are on sale for $219.99 with 2 carts (great deal) but currently backordered (I just noticed the message). Walmart had it for $199 with 2 carts during Black Friday - I am so mad I missed that deal!

But if your aunt was worried about space, your uncle can get the Cricut Create that is as small as the original but has the features of the "E". This just came out this year so I am not sure what the best deal is on these.

He can try going on ebay for deals too on either of the machines.

Here's a useful link from a site posted earlier.

FYI: Wal Mart stores in our surrounding area (KY & TN) only had a handful of the Cricut machines in stock for Black Friday. I visited 2 stores that day and they were both out before 5:30am. So it was nearly impossible to get that deal where I live.

Ebay shopping...have not found (in my shopping for the past month) a better priced machine than the prices posted here...no other deal has included that much and for that low price.

It's funny because I was searching this site earlier this morning with the same question! I couldn't sleep and watched a 1/2 infomercial on the Cricut Expression. Then I went online and saw the price! Ouch! Went to walmart and they had it for about 289.00 but that is still too much for me to spend right now. It does look like it would be a really cool tool to have.

I've owned both and you will find that the Expressions will give you smaller cuts that are needed for your cards. The regular cricut will cut at 1" minimum. Depending on the shape, it maybe too big for the card. I sold my cricut and got the Expressions and am loving it. There's definitely more options that you will appreciate.

I love my Expression. I am no help for a deal on the actual "E" Try Creative Express they have great deals regularly on their cartridges!
A few weeks ago I bought a bunch at $29.99 each. I think they have some new promotions going on now maybe even for the "E". HTH!!

Default Cricut Expression

I have a Cricut Expression, and I love it. I almost traded it for a Cricut Create because of the size, but, the Create does not have all of the features that the Expression has. For one the "Fit to size" which I use quite a bit when I am cutting small items is not included on the Create.
If I could order now, (and I have looked around with a friend who was interested) I would order the one from the infomercial. You can't beat it for the price, especially with all the kits they include. The Potpourri Basket is a double cartridge that is not offered in the stores and really looks neat. It is selling on ebay right now, for $235 and up. I would definitely check out the tv offer. That is the one my friend went with. I can't wait to share her cartridges.

Good Luck!!!

I just purchased a Cricut Expressions last night at my local Walmart for $199.00. I don't know how long the price is going to be that low or even if it's that price at all Walmarts, but the sign overhead said regularly $389 now $199. I jumped right on it.

Wow, that's a great price! It was $331 at my Walmart on Thurs. Didn't get it but DH had it in our cart.

Would love to find that price
