I am so confused about which one to get! Hubby got me both and I need to return 1.
I want to use MDS with it. Don't use chipboard. I want the easiest one. I do have a paper source by me. I can get help from them. Little with the cameo.
Thank you!!!!
You can also import all your MDS content into the silhouette studio software - its mostly jpgs & pngs so can easily be used in SS. I think they also have some svg files that can be cut with SS. Actually, and digital scrapbooking files can be used with SS. I don't know anything about the cricut software and how easy it would be to bring those files into their software.
I have the Cricut Create which i like, but want a bigger machine that can do more so after a month of research between Cricut Explore and the Cameo, I ordered the Cameo. The UPS man just dropped it off at my work this morning. It is sitting at my feet waiting patiently for me to get off work in 11 minutes, so we can go home and play!!!!
I have a Silhouette Cameo that I absolutely love and I have a Cricut Expression 1 that I love as well. Since I wanted to upgrade to the latest and greatest in Cricut, I bought the Explore to try it out; it was only $199 at Walmart. The Explore cuts so great but the software sucks! I returned the Explore and bought an Expression 2. The expression 2 is much better in MY opinion. Provo Craft did not put a lot of effort in their software, as this has been as ongoing issue for some time with them. I would go for the Cameo; Silhouette America just released a touchscreen version of the machine. Not to mention, with the Cameo, you can design your own images ad cut them out. You can also purchase and find SVG cutting files for free to cut with the Cameo. There is so much more to do with the Cameo than the Explore. Again, this is MY opinion.
Also, please look at some reviews, comparison videos, and comments online to help with your decision. Good luck.......
If I could keep only one my machines, which one would I keep and why. This was my answer.
My Cameo!
The best print n cut on the market.
I can cut poster board or light cardboard, glue a couple of layers together, so no need to cut chipboard.
I can design in Silhouette Studio, Coral Draw, or AI. (I design and cut directly from Corel Draw. and can save to most vector and graphic formats). I think Silhouette Studio is fabulous, and gives one functions found in high end programs. I've just been a Corel user since 1989 or '90
I don't have to buy cartridges or be tied to the Internet.
It cuts even fine detail beautifully.
I'm not tied to the Silhouette brand mat, so I can use another brand in a pinch.
I'm not even tied to their blades. I have a holder that works with my 45 & 60 degree blades.
I have extra adapters that lets me use all my pens and most of my markers including Copics.
My Cameo is dependable, was reasonably priced, came with free editing software, and the option to purchase reasonably priced software upgrades.
