The grass die from My Favorite Things looks great but the grass punch from Martha Stewart is easier/faster to use. Since I want to buy one, which would you advise?
i only have the martha stewart punch but my local scrapbook store carries the die. they showed me that with the die you can use both the top and bottom of the cut as grass; but it looks to me that if you needed a long cut you would have to butt cut ends together. with the punch you can make the cut as long as needed or as long as the width of the paper you are using without having to butt shorter lengths together. so to my way of thinking, you would have to decide if longer lengths are what you need/use more frequently or would you prefer to have 2 cuts of shorter lengths.
Lupelu, thanks for your reply. I am trying to understand what you mean by 'using the bottom and the top' of the die cut as grass. Do you mean that you would make a horizontal cut through the grass and use either the top part or the bottom part?
The grass punch was a seasonal release and I haven't seen it in quite awhile and kick myself for not buying it too. If you find a place to purchase this at a reasonable price please let me know. I have an old sizzix die that I use for grass.
I have BOTH of these and prefer the MFT Grass DieNamic... to get texture you can use, cork, felt, fabric etc which you can NOT use with the punch, AND it stores in a LOT less space, been tempted to sell the MS Punch...

They are sold out right now, it's been VERY Popular but Kim is FAST with restocking!!!! Watch the MFT Forum for a post of Die namics back in stock or just go to My Favorite Things... and click on the dienamics button on the left... I have some cards on my blog that show what it looks like.

I checked the MFT website before I posted and looked under both "what's new" and "die-namics" tabs and couldn't find it. I just checked again and it's still not there. Since you've stated they are sold out right now, perhaps they remove it from the site until it's back in stock? In the mean time I'll check out your blog ~ Thanks!

sorry if i was unclear. when you place the die on the bottom edge of the paper and it cuts through, you end up with 2 pieces--the bottom and the top piece or postive and negative--however you want to describe it. the top piece would have to be cut straight across again to get the second length of grass--the edge that doesn't have the grass design. am i confusing you? i'm not sure how to clear this up. any help out there?

I know what you mean! You roll the die through and when you remove the "correct piece" you are left with another piece that you just have to take your paper trimmer to and run it along to make a flat/bottom piece as there are sticky ups looking like grass.... I do this ALL the time and it actually is pretty cool because the blades of grass are facing different directions, great build up....

YEs she does remove it so people cant click and then be disappointed when you can't check out due to out of stock items in your cart... I JUST checked and she is still out... I'm gonna guess that on September 1 she will have more, that is the new release date with FIVE more Dienamics being released!!!! GREAT!!!!! There goes the grocery money!!!!!

If you are still looking for the Martha Stewart grass punch, try the online store, Frantic Stamper. Just checked and I think it is in stock - $14.99. You have to call but Fran is very fast mailing your order. I ordered a punch on Monday and received it on Wednesday. I think the store is located in Oregon and I am in CA so that is one reason it was so quick to arrive. When I ordered it was in the morning, Fran said she could get it sent off that day.
I saw the MS grass punch on the Joanns site today. It was on sale but I don't remember the exact price. I did notice that it said online only and the site was carrying all the PATP peices from this past Spring. HTH
