Default Glitter pens

I stamped with Concord & 9th inks; the next day I tried to cover with glitter pens. I first used Lawn Fawn's and then used Imagine Sheer Shimmer Stix but found that the nibs were picking up the color of the ink. I was able to tap it off on a piece of paper but was wondering if it was because the ink pads were dye and not pigment. Would it make a difference or is that just what happens? I also tried using the Nuvo Glitter Gloss and didn't notice any color adhering to the brush but maybe that was just because it was a brush instead of a nib touching more of the surface. Any suggestions?

it sounds like the inks were reacting to the shimmer stix liquid. are they both waterbased or other base that's the same? had you heat set the ink?
