When I have time to make cards, I want to do a layout and put the card together. Usually my time to work is limited, so I am wondering if anyone stamps images and colors a bunch when they have time for that, then when they want to put cards together, they chose a colored image for their project and go from there. Thoughts..advice...TIA!

Once I've got the design and layout figured out, I start cutting and stamping the individual pieces to be used in an assemnbly line method. That way I can make 12 or whatever number of cards needed quickly. I'll bring the images to be colored to where ever I'm going along w/my Tombow markers and color. Or if something needs to be cut out I'll bring that along.

Yes, I love to use flower stamps on my cards, so I will stamp a bunch of them, cut to a working size and have fun with my Tombows making a garden of different colored flowers.
Actually sometimes I do this. Like tonight when I go to the in-laws to visit I will be bringing my tote with stamped images, Prisma pencils & markers to color in while I am there.
Sometimes I do. It doesn't necessarily make my projects more time efficient though. I do it because coloring is relaxing for me and so when I don't want to create a full project, then I can just bring out my pencils and color away. Then later, when I feel like cutting and pasting, so to speak, I can put a card or other project together.
:>
Yes, I work like this majority of the time. Mostly because I am ususally creating something in bulk. However, sometimes I just want to color and play with my stamps with no real project in mind and I do save the images to use on a card later.
I like to stamp a bunch of images in black ink, then sit down in front of the tv with my water color pencils, markers, and/or prisma colored pencils and just color! Then I keep all the parts to make in to cards later. I don't worry about how the card will be laid out or what color it would look good with until I'm ready to put together a finished product.
I do stamp ahead then while I am in line waiting to pick kids up after school I pull out my little bag of goodies and go to work coloring or cutting out which ever it is I need to do i have been known to jump in the back seat where there is more room and put the project together . I have been known to get some of the ladies together at my parking spot and get involved LOL the more the merrier and the more i get finished right LOL .
I do this sometimes--especially when I'm working on Christmas cards. Once I get my initially 'test' card done, I'll stamp all th epieces I need to complete the rest, and then color them as I have time.

I tend to do this more when I'm in a time crunch, or if I'm mass-producing a card, although I should do it more. I do shiftwork and its more interesting to do on my lunch at midnight than watch bad reruns. It also gives a great mental break away from my work. I find I always feel rejuvenated when I return to work, because I've "fed my soul" with something I love. I'm happier at work for the rest of my shift. I bring my therapy to work!

OH MY GOSH--YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I spent about 2 hours one day going through my stamps then stamping them. I had TONS of sheets. I then colored them at my leisure, with still tons aren't colored. It's SO relaxing and a fun way to "craft" without being in a serious craft mood. It has helped me IMMENSELY in getting cards done FAST, too. It is the best thing I've EVER done as far as productivity and fun goes. I keep my sheets in a plastic envie type of thing.
I stamp images to be used/colored later. There's 4-5 of us that share stamp sets regularly-more bang for all our bucks by sharing. Don't forget to stamp a few extra's for practice-sometimes it's hard for me to decide which coloring method would work best-so I practice a bit before making a final decision!!!
Happy stampin'!

I often make multiples of the same card and do them in an assembly line fashion - I'll cut the card body and score, then cut all the other elements, then do all the stamping and color them later. That's because I often make cards on my lunch hour and there's just not enough time to do it all.
I can remember doing a bunch of Christmas cards this way and one of them required coloring. Doing the stamping at one session and coloring at another didn't cause any problems.

You sound like me. I do the same thing, in front of the TV. Problem is I either become really involved in my coloring and I miss the show or I become really involved in the show and don't get much coloring done! LOL
