Have fun with your new toys
Fabulous Idea!!!!!! Can't believe I never thought of THAT.

Glad to be of service  I get a pack of three for 1 at a local discount store. I rinse the chunks out when they get too inky and then just throw them away when they get too tatty and start to lose bits off the edges - the first pack I bought lasted over a year I reckon and I've just broken into the first brand new sponge from my replacement pack.

Joanne, I had forgotten that you are in the UK...and the difference in price!! Yeah, I'd do that too, if I were you! I know things are also alot more expensive in Canada too!! I have those yellow round sponges that I cut into pieces, and I do use those too. I also use sponge daubers..the little ones you slip onto your finger. If you ever come to the States...bring an empty suitcase...so you can stock up on a bunch of supplies, to take back with you!!! LOL....I can't wait for my inks to arrive!!

Great idea for storing the blending foams! I may have to give this a try... as soon as my foams come in! Is anyone else having trouble finding these things? I had to get a rain check from Hobby Lobby two weeks ago and they're still not in! ARGH! I want to play with them so bad! LOL

I bought some inks, the wood mount and some of the little felt applicators (which I think are the blending foams, right?) and just can't get 'into' it. I had a package of applicators and used maybe 2-3, so there are several left....I'd be happy to mail them to you if you want them - just PM me your address.

Toni, there are two different attachments - foam and felt. Foam ones are for using with Distress Inks. Felt ones are for using with Alcohol Inks.

I love Distress Inks. Next to my Memento inks, these are my favorite inks to use. I need (yeah, right) ALL the new colors of Distress Inks. I think I have almost ALL the original colors. Might be missing a couple

I have two of the wood mounts. One I use for all the alcohol inks (you use the felt pad for these). The other one is for blending the distress inks (the foam pads). However I have recently started using some cosmetic sponges that are really cheap to do my blending. The stupid handle on the wood mount keeps coming off and I'm too lazy to glue it back.

I'm going to have to check out some of these other techniques for my distress inks.

I do appreciate your offer though! I thought they were the same things too, but luckily I was experimenting with the alcohol inks anyway so it wasn't a total loss. :-) I just don't understand why nearly every store I go to carries the applicator with the felts but not the foam. I have a rotary cutter (for quilting) and some cheap felt so I can make the felt pieces, but not the foam. Unless someone can tell me how to make the foam pieces? Is it a makeup sponge with stuff on the back to attach to the velcro? I've never even touched even seen one of the things in person to be able to figure it out!

They are dense foam like cosmetic wedge sponges, with the blue soft velcro on the back. Why not try using the cosmetic sponges and see if they work for you? I would take a bulldog type clip and fold the thin edge of the wedge back on the sponge and clip to create more surface for the ink and a nifty handle for you.

I agree the Ranger foams are hard to find in stores. I ended up mail ordering them when my LSS seemed to take forever to get them in. Of course, they arrived in my LSS not three days after my mail order arrived.

I tell you what...we could ask Tim Holtz to say something to Ranger about this. There's no reason why you can't buy the foam pads as well as the felt pads. If you're going to sell a blending tool you should also sell all the accoutrements! (oooo, a fancy word...look at me....I even used anomalies in a sentence today......roflmao)

I love distress inks! I have quite a few of the colours and have found so many great uses for them using Jennifer McGuire's techniques from her Thinking Inking techniques. My latest favourite is where she completely covers the paper with the ink directly to paper, then stamps in versamark followed by a spritz of Perfect Pearls mixed with water before stamping into the completely covered with ink paper. It is amazing - a ghostly image sparkles through when heated with a heat gun. Not sure if I'm explaining it well but here is an example she did.

And all of the new Distress colours are here on samples

They seem to be available here in Canada. I bought a package not too long ago. Maybe your stores just don't get asked for them.
