Can someone please tell me what the difference is in the copic markers and SU markers? I also here that the copic markers are quiet a bit on the expensive side, what would be an alternative to the copic markers? Thank you in advance.
I get the COpics from www.oozak.com and the Ciao's are $2.90, the SU! markers are $3.25, so I wouldn't say they are on the expensive side.
I love both types or markers, and use them for different things, but as it was said in the previous post SU are water based and water soluble, i.e. you can use them to watercolor with them too, the Copic ones are alcohol based.

I just placed my first order after doing a ton of research and wishing I could color my cards like some in the gallery...SCS costs me more than it's worth most days...LOL
Anyway...yes, they are expensive markers. But like was pointed out already, SU markers are too...but compared to Crayola, very expensive. And compared to other coloring mediums, such as insides of ink pads that you already have, or watercolor pencils, they are a large investment.
I bought them because I can get vibrant color (or so I have seen) and can do shading and blending without my paper pilling up and looking like a mashed out spit-wad.

I just got my first copics this week...and I have to say...they are AWESOME! They are nothing like SU markers (which are nice, but it's like comparing apples to oranges). Alcohol based markers in general require different techniques to use and take some getting used to...but the results are just stunning! And to be able to color in images and shade...and add color until it gets to be "just right"....without pilling the paper....is so awesome!
Go check out the blog: I like markers - tons of info about copics.
I use both... but I do turn to my Copics more often than not.
Thanks for the Copic Site... that is a great deal.
There are lots of great Copic Tutorials too.
I just bought my 93rd Copic Sketch marker this past weekend! I love them and seldom (if ever) use my SU markers anymore. I almost always buy from Oozak because their prices are so good and they are so nice, but I bought my last few from Blick's in Chicago. I also bought the airbrush system, which I have yet to use - - can't wait! Once you get your Copic's, you'll wonder how you ever did without them!

I use the SU markers for journaling and coloring my rubber before stamping, i use the Bic Mark-its and a prsmacolor blender for copic style coloring and for coloring metal and non porus embellishments. hope it helps!
