Default Die Cutting on the Cuttlebug Question

Hello All

I just got my Cuttlebug this week and when I used a metal die cut on it I'm pretty sure I layered the plates as they were to be but now one of my "B" plates has that image etched in it. Does anybod know if I did something wrong? I thought it all looked right. I didn't want to try again until I knew as I don't want to mark my plates all up unless that is what is supposed to happen then I won't worry abou it. Thanks for your help.

Shanon is right....that's why I bought an extra set of B plates. One for embossing and one for the die cuts. HTH

I read somwhere that the cutting plates are good for around 200 cuts before they'll need to be replaced (I could be wrong about the number).

Shanon is right, this is supposed to happen. I was shocked too the first time I cut anything!

Dianna, you might also want to purchase extra "b" plates. If you are using other dies such as sizzix they can crack. When mine crack I just put a piece of clear packaging tape over the crack and it works just fine.

Hope we have helped! Have fun with your bug. I love mine!

Thank you all for your quick responses. I feel better now. I like the idea of having one to cut and to emboss with. Looks like I'll be buying another set of plates. I love this litte guy so far though. Any other idea/tips on this machine that you've learned?

great idea: one for cutting, one for embossing,
I bought extra B plates also!
I have not used cutting for 200 cuts, and b plates are warping,
is that due to cutting or embossing?
thanks for info, gail

I harly ever use my "C" plate unless I am using the Sizzix die cuts..The thick ones, otherwise I use the "B" plates..I think they got part of the instruction book marked wrong with the certain plates..I believe its page 4..I will let you know for sure though.

You can turn them over and use the other side if they get too messed up. I haven't found it to bother the image when I emboss, though,

Just flip the warping plate over and use it that way. That's normal too.
