Default Cuttlebug vs. Big Shot

I am getting one of these for Christmas - but am not sure which. I like that the CB is less expensive, but does it do everything that the BS does? Are all of the beautiful, card sized dies I see for the BS compatable with the CB? Help me spend my Christmas $$!!

FWIW - I have plenty of storage space, so that isn't an issue.

Please - does anyone know if all of the Big Shot dies will also work in the Cuttlebug?

I have a Cuttlebug and as far as I know, all the Big Shot dies work in the Cuttlebug except for the super long ones ... I have seen some people post "work arounds" for those, but I've never tried ... so I would say for the most part yes ... unless you love love love those super long ones and think you would be using those a lot. That is my opinion. My Cuttlebug has served me well. Have fun!

The dies themselves should fit...it's the XL plates that don't fit the Cuttlebug. You can get the big plates and trim off about 1/8" or so off the long edge, get some custom made, or use two "B" plates end-to-end on the top and bottom of the sandwich (this can cause a small skipped space in the cutting/creasing though)

The Big Shot is definitely sturdier, and you can use it on any surface because there's no "suction gripper" needed on the bottom.

I would go for the BIGkick or BigShot rather than the Cuttlebug. There is only about a $10 difference in price (based upon what AC Moore or Michaels in my area charges). They go on sale frequently also or take advantage of using a coupon.

The BIGkick and BigShot (same machine, just different looks) are a larger and more sturdy machine. There is no question they will fit all dies and Nestabilities without any modifications for width of cutting pads.

I finally caved and bought a Big Shot this year and I love it! I really like how versatile it is, and how you can use it with just about anything! :-D

Go Bigshot...If you go to a lot of Scraps or Retreats you can always save and get the Cuttlebug later. There's always a sale somewhere or use a coupon for it. I have both and the Cricut Create...I use each of them for different things. I love each of them the same depending on the project or card I am making. Yes the dies work in each of them...XL's don't work in the Cuttlebug. Either way you are a winner!!! Enjoy spending your Christmas money...but I must tell you to "BUYER BEWARE" "It's Addicting" and "Only You" can control it!!!! Smile....HeHeHe.....Merry Christmas!!!

I love my big shot! I have two friends with cuttlebugs, and once they tried the big shot they were both disappointed that they already had cuttlebugs. If you have the space, get the Big shot. it is sturdier, can be placed on any surface (even carpet), accepts all dies, and is easier to turn.
