Default Newbie to Prismacolors with questions??

Hi, I bought a set of Prismacolor pencils and was just coloring with them, then I saw posts about how people use blending stumps and gamasol to blend them. I have a few questions here... How does this work better than just regular coloring? When would you use this technique and how do you use it? What the heck is gamasol and where do you buy it? Thanks for any input.

Go to http://www.inkyantics.com/ and click on the box that says
Download the Instructions for
Colored Pencil Blending With Gamsol

They have a nice tutorial that should get you started! I use Mona Lisa Odorless Mineral Spirits instead of Gamsol, because I can get it locally. Others swear the Gamsol makes a huge difference. I'm not good enough at the technique for it to make a difference. LOL
