Default Cuttlebug and MFT Dienamics

Hi ladies! I hope this hasn't been addressed before. Earlier this season I bought the snowflake dies from MFT stamps. I finally got around to using this die a couple of days ago, and had the worse time trying to get a clean cut with my Cuttlebug. I remembered Amy Rysavy made a video with this die and the Big Shot compared to the Cuttlebug and she had a similar problem with her Cuttlebug. She didn't have a problem with her Big Shot though. Problem is, I only have the Cuttlebug and have no intentions of buying the Big Shot as I have a Big Shot Pro too (but don't have any other accessories yet) . Can anyone give me some advice on using MFT dies? By the way, I bought a C.C. Design die and didn't have any problems with that die. Thanks for the advice!

Are you cutting with the die face up or down? I usually cut with the die face down because I like to be able to see exactly where on the paper it is going to cut. However, with some detailed dies it makes a difference to cut with the die face up- results I can't get if were cutting face down.

Also a shim may help.

The metal plate that you use for cutting is great for intricate dies:
Cheery Lynn Designs Cuttlehug Metal Cutting Plate Adaptor

I use this plate for cutting many of the dies with lots of details and it helps.

Thanks for the responses. I used one sheet of card stock and ran it back and forth once. I finally was able to cut my image. If I use the Cheery Lynn adaptor, what would be the sandwich? Thanks.

It is amazing the difference in each individual CB machine. I have several MFT dies, and they cut beautifully for me. I use the "sandwich" shown on the package the dies come in. I haven't had to use anything extra.

Would anyone happen to know if you can use the Memory Box dies and also the Tim Holtz dies in the Cuttlebug......and if so, what type of sandwich?
Thanks.

I don't own any TH dies but I do have the MB dies. It's the same as Spellbinder dies or any thin die. Whether or not you want to use the die facing up or down is a matter of preference. For detailed dies I put the die face up -- for less detailed dies I use the die facing down as I can see where I put my die on the cardstock.

Face down from the bottom:
A
B
cardstock
die (face down)
C

Face up from the bottom:
A
C
die (face up)
cardstock
B

I haven't needed a shim for the MB dies I owe as they are not very detailed. With some detailed dies you may need a shim.

I just tried my MFT die and it cut cleanly. I did run it back and forth a couple of times, but I got some really beautifully cut images.

I have had trouble with the C.C.Designs/MFT butterflies die - I will certainly try with the CS on the top. I have used one or two sheets of cs as shims and that helped a lot.

Cool

Has anyone used the Hero Arts/Sizzix stamp/die combo in the cuttlebug? I came across some in Hobby Lobby today and started drooling but it doesn't say CB, it lists others and I was afraid to buy it and ruin my CB.
