PS my plates are well worn too

Racercat 06-17-2007 06:35 PM

Does anyone know if the sizzix Bigz dies will go in the cuttlebug? I looked at the sandwich chart and sifted through pages on this thread and didn't see that particular type listed. Could someone please help me with this information. I would really appreciate it.

jess8869 06-18-2007 04:04 AM

AC Moore is also having a 40% off folders and dyes I got a few for 2.99! I was really excited! Jess:)

Yes you will. The bug doesn't come with any folders or die cut templates. I would see exactly how much you were going to get in credit before you go with All That Scraps. Going with Michaels using the 40% off coupon might be your better choice. There is a coupon this week also. I got mine there for 42.79 with tax. If they give you problems using the coupon ask to see the manager. It says not on Cricut not Cuttlebug. Provocraft makes them both that's all. They are not the same. All That Scraps is a nice to shop at, but I don't think you are going to be getting much of a reward back on that purchase. I got .14 for spending I think $10.

I was wondering if anyone knows if the Cuttlebug replacement pads will work for the Big Shot?

lilian 06-19-2007 09:36 PM

Can anyone recommend an ebay seller who sells the bug dies? I know there was an old thread that mentioned "Oakhill Trading Post" who gives free shipping but I just checked and they don't sell bug stuff anymore.

mandadw 06-20-2007 05:46 AM

i am selling the cuddlebug alphabet dies for $50 ~ You're Not the Boss of Me. PM me if you're interested!!

mom2kaynky 06-20-2007 11:12 AM

Does the "B" plate get marked with the dies? Or am I doing it wrong?

Thanks! Deb

jennylyn 06-20-2007 11:37 AM

I have a Sizzix Sidekick and The Big Shot...I believe that they are very similiar to the Cuttlebug. And the plates are what the cutting is done on.

Cuttlebug Help, please

I want to use the cuttlebug using the new friskars templates that I got. I was looking at the instructions that I got off of SCS and I don't know what this stuff is.

~*Tan Wizard pad, black or tan Wizard pad, cardstock shim, chipboard shim, rubber plate (made from plumbers rubber gasket)*~

I don't have a clue on what this stuff is, if anyone can help direct me to where I can find these items, I really would appreciate it?

conniemacko 06-20-2007 03:51 PM

Hey Miss Kathy! I'll direct you!

The Wizard is another kind of embossing diecutting machine by Spellbinders... they make accessories to use with it...Ellen Hutson has some in her store herefor one source...

the plumbers gasket stuff is a 6 x 6 x 1/16" piece of red rubber you can get at hone depot, or other hardware store...

Think that covers it...

I mainly have just used the plumbers gasket ($0.99 vs $9.99)

Barbie 50 06-20-2007 04:59 PM

cuttlebug Dies and Alphas

JoAnns is having a great sale and all of the sizzix dies and alphas are on sale. They let me use the 50% off coupon on the Sizzix alphas and they came out to $25. Since the clearance items dont show up on the register as being on sale you can use the coupons.
AND....e-bay has lots of Cuttlebugs alphabets for under $30. I just bought the harmony alphabet for $16.00 from seller ShopBargains101 and the You're not the boss of me alphabet for $22.00 from seller purjkv. Lots of great deals on e-bay for Cuttlebug stuff.

Has anyone found a good storage box for all the bug dies and folders?
I dont want the clear pages where you just slip them into the pockets. I was hoping for a cute container to store them.

conniemacko 06-20-2007 06:37 PM

Rumor has it (on the ProvoCraft Blog) they are developing something...

from the BLOG:
A storage solution for the Cuttlebug will be available in July. Look for it to be part of the unveiling with all the other new products at this summers CHA. I mentioned that it would be a bag and was called on it by Cindy,

You caught me Cindy, I thought bag would be generic enough, but as you point out, thats pretty lame. I cant say exactly what it will be, but it will be cool. And youll have to wait till CHA to see it Itll be worth the wait.

I got some cute metal boxes at Target $ spot for my dies and I'm using the boxes from the retired punch sets for my folders... not ideal but working for now!

I reall ALL the pages at work....but dont tell anyone

Hope this helps.

Barbie 50 06-20-2007 09:14 PM

Thanks Connie.
I can't wait to get something to get my bug stuff organized.
I have become a Bug addict and Im running out of room on my desk to keep my new bug stuff.

Sabrinasmom 06-21-2007 04:52 AM

Okay, I am ordering a 'bug, and I can order two embossing folders. Which ones do you use most often, or do you think would be good 'starters'?

Thanks!

I would suggest the Swirls folder and maybe the Spots and Dots folder. For me, I think they are the most versatile. Then again, most of them are. ;) The word folders are much more specific.

Kimberly

conniemacko 06-21-2007 05:50 AM

I like the spots and dots because it looks so much like SU!s 'little pieces'... My most very favoritest (!) is the stylized flowers though. I have seen soooo many cool things with it!

Oddly, I didn't get the swirls, because I have a fiskars texture plate already that is very similar.

I agree with this suggestion. These are very versatile and can be used for anything. It is amazing how different they look when used with different colors, and also try embossing pattern paper for a different look!

wendella247 06-21-2007 09:33 AM

I vote for Spots n Dots and Swirls also. They are very versatile. If you do a lot of birthday cards, the birthday one would be good. The one with the flowers is nice too, but probably not as versatile at Spots n Dots and Swirls.

Sabrinasmom 06-21-2007 10:07 AM

It doesn't look like Joann.com has the Spots and Dots...or am I missing something?

With free shipping, and the 'bug on sale, I really don't think I can beat the price.

Any other suggestions?

If you have a Michaels in your area you can use a JoAnn 50% off coupon and get the bug for $40.
As far as the folders, I love the birthday and the swirls. ;)

Val Simek 06-22-2007 12:18 PM

I just purchased a CB at Joann and at first they questioned the coupon and then the manager tried the 40% coupon and it worked. So I got my Cb for $59.98. I wasn't very happy because they didn't have many dies or folders. I was only able to get D'vine Swirl and Congrats. Maybe luck next time I go.

Yikes! Decision to make

My Sizzix Sidekick just died... so I need to replace it but I want something larger. I have been leaning towards the cuttlebug, mainly because its mentioned so much on this site. I have a ton of Sizzlets (the thin dies) and of course I still want to use them...too much $$ invested. With my new tool I want to be able to cut and emboss. Does pretty much everything on the market do that now? i.e., cuttlebug, big kick, etc.

Thanks for the input. Crafty funds are pretty low right now so I am looking for the most bang for my buck. Aren't we all?

Barbie 50 06-22-2007 05:34 PM

GET THE BUG!!!!!
You will love it once you have it!! Being able to emboss is one of the best things. Every girl should have one =)

Sandwich Help

I have read this thread and I have printed Cats sandwich stack rules and I thought I had it together
Can someone tell me which way the Sizzix dies (red, yellow and green) are supposed to be placed on the bug. I was using them blade side down like it says in the stack rules and then I go on the Provo Craft blog and it shows them cutting side up.

I went on the Provo Craft blog : http://www.provocraft.com/blog/index.php?bid=55
HELP!!!!
I dont want to hurt my bug :(

linneahay 06-23-2007 06:54 AM

Great Deal!

Someone on here said to use the 50% off coupon from Joann's at Michael's and get the Cuttlebug. Well, last evening I tried it and it worked. Michael's sells the Cuttlebug at $79.99 and that made it $40.00 with the coupon. I am on cloud nine! Not only did I finally get the Cuttlebug, I got it at a great price! I recommend anyone who is thinking about buying a Cuttlebug, to try doing this. It will definitely save you money.

I then left Michael's and went to AC Moore, who is having 40% off on all cuttlebugs & accessories. Bought all the embossing folders at $2.99 each, regular $4.99, and several of the smaller dies which were regular $4.99, also at $2.99. Stuff like this makes me a happy ol' soul!

I did all this at the Huntington, WV mall area. Just a heads up for anyone in my area wanting to try the same thing. Good Luck!

I have always used my Sizzix dies blade down. I imagine they would work either way! I do advise that you "break in" your Bug using embossing folders and CB dies first. Just as you would a new book, start out gently! Then work up to the Sizzix! :-)

*Whaaa* crying. I wish I may I wish I might have an AC Moore store near me. The closest one to me is 97.5 miles away....quite a road trip.

You go girl with your good shopping skills. :)

Barbie 50 06-23-2007 01:53 PM

Thank you Amy. You are the queen of the bug ;)

Jane D 06-25-2007 11:24 AM

I just received my Cuttlebug and can't attach the handle. It appears that the screw is too short. Has anyone else had this problem? I am bummed that I can't use it right away. Thank you.

conniemacko 06-25-2007 11:46 AM

as I remember... the screw wasn't really long? It fits into a "hole" kind of a depression in the handle? You actually had to put the allen wrench in pretty far? anyone else who can take a second look for you?

Good luck!

The screw is tiny but it comes with a "turn thingie" (:) don't know what it is called. You place the screw in the hall and get in there with the turner.

Hope that helps!!

laurafjv 06-25-2007 02:27 PM

Don't put the screw in the hall... put it in the hole:)

lezzels 06-25-2007 02:44 PM

Yes that screw will fit in.......

Has anyone used sizzlets in cb I tried a coupl and they are not cutting right through....... have I maybe gotta use the other thicker plate that comes with my bug?? antone
