Question Is crystal effects the same as......

I just wanted to know if crystal effects is basically the same as glossy accents by ranger. I have that and wanted to know before I order from SU tonight! Thanks for any help!

It is similar...but I found the ranger product to not work as well as an adhesive....Crystal effects will hold embellishments to your project...such as flat-backed rhinestones.

It does have the same effect just for adding gloss to stamped and colored images! One thing I haven't compared is if one yellows with age faster.

I use it instead of glossy accents and it's worked great for me. I've had no issues with it not adhering as well.

According to the bottle, the Ranger product is not a glue/adhesive. It is meant to put over an area of your project to accent it with a glossy, matte or sepia look (which ever of the 3 you use).

I use the Ranger brand (matte and sepia) on my projects, not as a glue. I use various other things for glue/adhesive.

Actually, my bottle of Ranger Glossy Accents says one of its uses is to "bond & protect embellishments"...

I use the Glossy Accents as a glue all of the time... it works amazingly!
I have never used the Crystal Effects, though....

I use glossy accents all the time to adhere embellishments, so far no problems. I also use it alot to make faux brads from small punches. Punch the mini shapes from regular cardstock Give them one or two coats of glossy accents, then attach with a dot of glossy accent. Hard part is waiting for them to dry. lol

I found a jar of Triple Thick Brilliant Brush-on Gloss Glaze by DecoArt at Hobby Lobby by the spray paint. It doesn't have the easy-squeezy bottle, but is the same thing as Crystal Effects. 8 oz. for 5.99 It's a great deal for refills! I used it this weekend for making paper pins. Same stuff!

Okay, summing up this forum and adding my own discoveries, it seems that these products are all very similar or the same:
Crystal Effects by Stampin' Up
Glossy Accents by Ranger
Aileen's Paper Glaze
3D Crystal Laquer by Sakura
Diamond Glaze by Judikins
Triple Thick Brilliant Brush-on Gloss Glaze by DecoArt at Hobby Lobby by the spray paint

I have been using Crystal Effects to fix all kinds of things and it has really held up. I even fixed the handle on a microwave with it. I love the stuff.

I have Ranger Glossy Effects in all 3 colors that I bought as a set a long time ago. I like the way it looks, but honestly I use CE more. Don't know why!
