I don't know if anyone has posted this yet, but there are some cool downloads for the Design Software here.
That is super cool! Now I guess as we design and save files we can share! I almost bought a Robocraft instead of the cricut. I have friend who loves her b/c the downloads are free. I am so happy with my cricut!!
DUMB QUESTION ALERT:  Can someone please explain to me what the heck this download stuff is all about? I have clicked the links and have seen the pics, but I am just not "getting" it. I see that there is a free trial through today....but what is the software for? I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO stinkin confused.
Yeah, I have that one. I was really, really hoping that Cricut would get it up soon. I've been waiting on it since September. I don't know why they just won't put it up.
But you can see all the things it cuts in the software on your computer if you downloaded it.;) I look there sometimes because I like the search feature..For objects..I find things I forget areon my carts that I already own LOVe that

LOL...Too funny
Cricut.com has a download for design studio the new software for the cricut.
It lets you mix cuts on carts weld words manipulate& skew shapes & sizes and so much more
if you go to Provocraft.com you can read about it but there...but it is brief
the free down load is at Cricut.com...HTH's
I think it is great stuff... I did two post about it in my blog I HTH
I posted a thread Christmas Eve (as that was the *convenient* time that DH let me know he was looking for a Cricut for me!) asking which one you gals would choose: Regular Cricut or the Expressions.
Roberts closed before we could get there (MAJOR snow storm here in UT--we had a beautiful white Christmas), so I haven't gotten one yet.
I spent about an hour looking into it and it appears that the reg cricut is great as a portable machine, but the expressions is bigger and meant to be stationary. Also the difference in cut size is larger with the expressions.
Most gals who responded to my thread said to invest in the expressions if I have a choice, but it's definitely pricey!!
I need you "experts" to weigh in on this....is the reg just fine or should I save up a bit and get the big one???
Melissa ... it really depends on what you plan to do with it. I have both now. I will use the little one most of the time, I think, but will use the big one for things that I will put on walls or when I need really big cut outs. Does that make sense?? If you scrap with 12x12 paper, I would suggest the big bug, though.
Oh no! I don't need any more enabling. This site (and the other one) is going to make me want not only the software (and my cricut is not in the same room as my computer) but other carts too. ARRRRGGHH!!
Yep..... your point?? Heh heh heh!:mrgreen:

Well, when I actually get *back* to scrappin' (my first addiction before I was introduced to SU 5 years ago!), I'm going to use the 12 x 12 format.
My biggest interest (for right now) is in using it to make a bunch of vinyl lettering for my house. I'm wondering if it's actually a cost-effective way to go by the time I pay the $$$ for the machine and then all the vinyl.

Well, it's worth it to me because of all of the other fun wonderful things I can do with it. I bought some Wall Pops and plan to use those to make some things to hang on the walls of my Haven (stamp room). I can't wait to use the Expression for that!!!! I will use it for things for my Sunday school walls, too.

I think you'll use your machine for a long time. Everyone I know who has use the E-bug has gotten it after owningthe small one and they love it and havent looked back...I have the small one and would love the big one but for me owning it a little over a year is too soon to move to the big one. I can scrap and make cards withthe small one just fine and I have about 4 friends here that have the big one so I will hit them up for a cut If I need it bigger...
I will probably get the big machine in a year or two...I am glad the software came out becasue it fixes some of the things that drove me nuts with the small machine and I think make it a great deal.

Shell did you see that Kim is carrying Vinyl, that is less expensive in bigg sheets...It looks like a good price and I think less expensive than Wall pops. If you are doing a lot of letters adn shapes
I have the baby bug and love it. It does everything that I need - I'm more of a cardmaker than scrapper. Mostly, I'm jealous of the Expressions when I see boxes from the Tags, Bags, Boxes cartridge. Mine just come out too small to do me any good. Someday, I see upgrading, but not right now. My usage is just not enough to justify a new machine. If I were buying new, I'd go with the big one - but the small one really is fine - especially with a software!

No, I didn't see that. I like the wall pops because they stick well. I think I need that for Sunday school .... the walls are painted cinder block.
Oh boy, I am overwhelmed with all of your ideas and downloads. I got my little cricut for Christmas, and I am afraid to dive in. I think I might try the paper pups to make some quick cards with, but I am getting nervous reading about all the other stuff. Phew!!

Don't get nervous!!! Just have a blast!!!!!!!! Dive in and play. Have a great time and don't be afraid to experiment.
Hi All, I just got a cricut and was thinking how cool it would be if it could do dry embossing. Don't you think? Replace the blade with a stylus, Slap a sheet of paper on a thin foam mat, pick a size and design and BAM!, cool background. Or what about a lacy boarder. Just a thought. It was my idea first!! )
Well, I have one card done since I last posted . . . have to finish it off with some embellishments and I am trying another quick (the one from the sample book--I Miss you with the dog and kitty). I really hate that it doesn't cut through my SU cs. I have it on the deepest setting, fast speed, highest pressure. I am using the original blade though--haven't tried a replacement blade yet. Do you always have to retrim SU cs?! That is a real draw back.
So, I got a flyer sort of thing with a coupon in the mail from Michaels today. Sure wish it could be used on Cricut stuff. It may go to waste if I can't find "something" to spend it on!!

It was like night & day difference when I replaced my original blade.

I am using my original blade and am not having any problems with SU cs. I have mine on 5, speed high, and pressure high. I have only had mine a short period of time but it seems that it what I read to put my settings on.

I am not sure about M's but Joann's will let you use coupons for mats and blades. Just a thought! I would hate for a coupon go to waste!;)
I feel soooooo dumb saying this, but I don't understand what the Design Studio does that my cartridges can't.
esign studio just lets you stretch and skew and resize your image to the ssize you want. Plus you can merge images. like a circle from george and a heart in the center from a different cart or george.
Or type S N O W with one cart and instead of typing an O replace it with a snowflake from a different cart and merging it into one cut.
You can also place items closer together on the mat and cut from multiple carts on one mat. just a few things like that..
It allows you to cut images smaller than an inch on the old cricut and flip images to change the way they look. You can weld little borders together and make 12" borders out of them, or frames. It just allows you to get even more out of your cart. If you are uncomfortable using it use your bug more and then when you get used to it or have free time jsut play with the software to see what you can make your cricut do...I know alot of people here are going to make a lot of neat things with the soft ware. The smart thing to do if you are uncertain is to download the trial and play with it. Dont do any cuts just play with the cuts from george. then you can get an idea of some possibilities...I was playing with my design studio tonight. I am loving just playing with it and making some templates i'll use in the future. I have been playing with using some of the backgrounds from Zoobaloo and merging them together. I also loaded all my carts as My favorites and I did searches for objects and found I had a lot of the objects on some carts that I didnt realize were there. The other day I was playing with the circles in Mini Monograms stretching the scallop and plain ones to make a center and border to make ovals. I stretched the sallopped square and made rectagles. then put different center cuts in for frames.. I think the possibilities are endless...You just mightneed to play with your cricut more before you get more cmfortable with design studio.
I know this is a hopelessly long post but I hope it helps.;)

I own both. I bought the baby bug thinking I didn't need the expression. It was too expensive and I figured the baby would do everything I needed. Then I saw all of the neat things the e-bug could do and I decided to bite the bullet in September and got the e-bug just 6 months after purchasing the baby bug. I have not regretted it for one minute. I haven't used my baby bug since I got the e-bug. The e-bug is meant to be stationary, but I have traveled with mine. It is more cumbersome than with the baby, but it is worth it to me. I have gotten so used to the features of the e-bug that I don't want to use the baby. I would suggest that you go with the e-bug if you can afford it so that you are not wishing for it later. There are also a lot of people that are perfectly happy with the baby bug.

Try replacing the blade. I had trouble with the blade that came with my e-bug, but it stopped once I replaced the blade.

Someone cut shapes of Chip board and mounted the oposite cuts on Cuttlebug plates and dry embossed by making their own folders. ;)
I'm on my original blade and have not had a problem with SU cs. I think that someone mentioned the original blades are sometimes not the best though. Walmart has replacement blades for around $8 I think. I have a pk but haven't changed my blade out yet.
Some of us got a bad batch of blades I think. My blade in my baby bug was fine. Molly (danssister) just replaced it about a month ago when she was at my house cropping. That blade lasted a long time considering I've had it since March. I replaced the blade in my e-bug right away because the blade it came with was giving me a horrible time on my SU cardstock. It wasn't cutting through all the way and it was tearing alot.
