Talking Copics??

I am thinking of purchasing some Copics, but I have no clue as what to get? I think there are several different types and I don't know what is good to start with.
If anyone has experience with them, please post what you know and what type of Copics you use.
Thanks!

I have both the Sketch and Ciao Copics. They are the same colors the differences between the two are the Sketch hold more ink, are oval shaped and come in over 300 colors. The Ciao's are round, don't have as much ink and only come in just over 100 colors. The Sketch markers are a little bit more expensive than the Ciao, so if you are just starting out and aren't sure if the Copics are right for you I would suggest getting the Ciao's so you aren't putting out alot of money to find out you don't like them. The other thing with getting Copic's is that for best shading you should get colors that are with in the same color letter/family and at least a couple of numbers different, for example B12, B14, B16. http://www.ilikemarkers.blogspot.com/ this is a great site to go to, to get alot of information on the Copic's. I went over the information about chosing markers before deciding on what to get, in the end I purchased as many of the Ciao's as I could and filled in the rest of the colors with the Sketch. The Copic's can be very addicting, but they are great for coloring. HTH.

I have some sketch and a whole lot of originals ( I found an awesome deal). I thought I would prefer the sketch over the originals (the tips are different), but have found out that I really like to work better with the originals because with the sketch markers I somehow always managed to go out of the line. It does not happen with the originals.

I refuse to pay $8.50/marker for Copics, I use a combination of the new BICS (24 pack $10 at walmart) and I use a brand called Touch by Shinhan, similar to copics but a lot less colors to choose from. Until I find a reason to buy 300 colors of markers, these work very well. I use cheap DieCutsWithAView white textured cardstock, this weekend on sale 6/$1.00. Stamp with memento or stazon, and color in with Bics or Shinhan Touch ($2.25ea at Pearls), color with light hand first layer, than heavy hand around edges to highlight. I will be posting examples on my blog soon.

My feeling is unless you are in the business of selling stuff you make dont spend a ton of money on the supplies you use. I use colored pencils (crayola!!), Bics, Sharpies, Paint Pens, Shinhan Touch, and a couple others, between them all I get the job done!! Use what you have, just experiment till you get the effect you want.

Since I like pastels I got the Copic Ciao C set. You know that led to another purchase of the D set which I expect to be delivered today. I know within the next few weeks I'll get the A&B sets too. They are wonderful.
